RIP Warrior
50 years ago -- October 12, 1972 -- Sergeant Fred G. Mick became the last US Special Forces soldier to die in the Vietnam War. He was a 26-year old medic with B Company, 2nd Battalion, 1st Special Forces Group. He was deployed to Long Hai on a mission to train Cambodian soldiers when he was killed in an ambush in Bien Hoa province.

With total respect to SGT Mick, I believe Captain Richard Rees was the last SF soldier killed in Vietnam. He was the team leader on the first JCRC team inserted on 15 Dec 73. He was killed when he stood up to alert the enemy that the team was on a recovery mission. May both rest in peace...
