We'll be voting in the streets
With our ballots at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone…
We won't get fooled again !!!
…Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss

Good points to ponder. I know Desantis will not give up the governorship now, I can't blame him. Not with Trump in the mix. I don't think the two of them running would end well for conservatives.
Maybe 2028 for 'ol Ron..now, we'll have to see who shakes out...
Oh, exquid, I know they're pants... It's a long running thing on one of the bike sites I frequent...but I knew that you knew that we all knew that...

The establishment GOP is also in that crowd; thus, DeSantis to be the candidate. Big corporate Republicanism loathes Trump.

Also, Ron DeSantis has current obligations to the people who voted him in as governor of Florida. You can check me on this; but I believe that once DeSantis announces his candidacy for president for the 2024 election he must relinquish his power as FL governor.
Something to remember is that President Trump was able to run - and win - because he was beholden to no "big donors". He had his own money, as well as that of the "little guys" (like us) that wanted him to win. DeSantis doesn't have that kind of money. He's going to need "big donors" and will be thus beholden to them. This article might outline the problem:

These two salient points concern me.
1) I don't think Florida has a replacement that will guarantee a RED win as governor. Many, many deep Blue snakes in South Florida will do everything to steal the election especially as the National focus will be on the POTUS election.
2) DeSantis probably can gin up the coffers, but if Trump does not graciously acknowledge AND support him, the election will be a shambles.

I'll vote for the Republican nominee...but I still believe there's no voting our way out of the mess the country is in.
