Hey TW, pardon me if I asked this before, but were you with the Wolfhounds when Lew Millett got the Medal?

I served in the 11th (MED PLT / MED SEC).
Rejoice with me! I might have found a unit that will take this "old" man. Turns out that CA has FID/UW BNs that do part of the old SF mission.
I am so jazzed at the prospect of actually being deployed again I can barely contain myself.
My wife is somewhat less so.

I got to SFT-42 in October '73. At that time the team was located with the Thai 2d SFG at Ft Narai. Primary mission was (with the Thais) developing the Special Officer Leadership Course (SOLC) to train Cambodian 2LTs. Got one course in before deactivation in March '74.

Well this isn't turning out as well as I thought it might.
When I asked about the ROE I was informed that if someone pointed a weapon at me I had to "just" point my weapon back at them. I am forbidden to engage unless fired upon.
My natural instinct is to cap anyone that poses a threat to me or my team. If they are pointing a weapon at me they are no longer friendly. How could shooting someone under those circumstances be construed (by those we are attempting to assist) as anything but normal self defense?
I still have time before I sign on the dotted line ... what are your opinions PLEASE?

Doc,
If you have to ask someone's opinion on what you already know in your gut then this is not the folks with which you want to serve.
