During ODS, A/3/10 somehow found itself attached to 1/3 SFG in Kuwait...it was just long enough that when we got back, we swore we would never whine about anything in 10th Group again...

Looking down at Leominster Road, which if memory hasn't completely failed, meant we were about 30 seconds out from our Green light on Turner...

Good times...

Leominister Rd

During the summer of 1984 11th Gp guys attending the 10th's JM course painted "STAND IN THE DOOR" on the road stretching from the middle of the road to the edge. Believe it was 1 minute out...

That's as close as I can remember sure was fun, except the SWC part, Desert Storm kicked off and we were left with no guest instructors and very few Gs and to top it off we combined Phases I with Phase III, what timing.

Got to the 10th in 74, first on 335 with Firewood Roberts (I was on the ARTEP in PA where he earned "Firewood"), also Dirty Joe W., Filthy Fred P., Sherman J. (RIP), Dave G., ex-POW Donny McP., Steve B., Gentry D., Chester M., etc. HALO MTT to Spain with 323, then moved to 321 after a language reorg. Spent LOTS of time jumping at Shirley and Pepperrell then left for the Golden Knights in Jan 79.

Helped run the first jump school there at Devens for the SF reserves, and was on the DZ when a Cessna flew over between passes. LTC Marechek went ballistic and ordered me to give him my pistol so he could shoot the plane down. Fortunately for all concerned I was unarmed...

Great site and trip down memory lane. I know some of you guys but don't recognize your handles, so give me a holler and refresh my memory!

I believe Lunenburg Rd was 10 seconds out. Leominster Mall was 1 minute out.

Use mapquest and look up Ft Devens, MA. Click on satelite view and you can see Turner DZ. Luneburg Road is right off the leading edge.
