Don't think I'd try to shoot a hog in the head with a bow either. Most likely bounce off most of the time, but then there are times like the video.

Well, the thread has degenerated pretty far so that even as little as I know will appear intelligent.
I would not spend much money on a hog trap as they are very smart creatures and learn rapidly ( more rapidly than your average amateur hog trapper).
You will most likely only be successful one time with a trap and once the pigs find some of their kin in the trap they will avoid it. New pigs moving into the area may be caught sporadically but the locals will not be. I saw a lot of bated traps in the SC WMA and none of them had any pigs in them and the corn was all old.
If you have enough land to move it around and change baits you may have more success.
If you have an AR lower, PSE makes a 400 fps cross bow that fits on it and is capable of shooting one inch groups at 100 yards. Price is about $1K. Requires very little practice to become proficient.

Ordered a snare from Boarmasters http://shop.boarmasters.com/main.sc and I will most likely use 00 buck in 12 gauge. I don't think there's an issue other than maybe an accidental cow killing from a stray round. But I'm hoping the cows will run when the hog gets caught in the trap. Not worried about the neighbors, closest one is half a mile away, and they shoot all the time. Plus I'd be operating within the law. mmmmm bacon!

All good stories require pictures. Tell your wife to set the camera next to the door so she can grab it and bring it to the ER so she can get some pictures of them stitching up your legs after a dead zombie boar resurrects and decides you are fresh meat.
I think this is really going to be an interesting thread.

Whether I get him or he gets me, entertainment will ensue. Cheers.

white russian bore
There is a lake Ross Barnett, above Jackson, Mississippi. Highway 43 runs across the south side. Just off of 43 is a game preserve. The Goverment put white Russian there about 40 years ago. Some of the pigs go over 300pounds.
There is one draw back, premitive weapons only. Bows and black powder. If you can't do it with one shot you are asking for trouble. You sign in when you enter the A.O. That is only in case you don't come back out. Oh and there is a 40 square lake and river to fish and camp on. Look it up on line before planning a trip. Enjoy
