Amen! Keep thrashin'!
And nothing like being married to a woman that inspires daughter-in-law to come over with a giant freshly-baked strawberry-rhubarb pie. What's for dinner? Who cares!?!?

FU$K,, That hurts....
Several times over,, and over..
I kinda self-assessed, I could breathe but very shallow, didn't hear gurgling or gushing, didn't think there was more than one entry, tried to maintain deep breathing to ward off shock. I was sure I needed dust-off, but I didn't have a plan. I knew I had to keep the show going for 15-20 minutes until the 2nd flight landed with the company CO, so I could pass info. I needed my medic to very my assessment as the hit was somewhere between my left kidney and the lower end of the shoulder blade.
10,000 things going through my mind, in 1/2 sec intervals.
Did I mention it really really FU$K'N hurt?

FOOTNOTE:
At the beginning of my story, I mention that we were tasked with supporting A Co 2nd 7th Cav, who had already taken several wounded from a sniper.
I didn't find out for 20 years that the platoon leader that was hit was in fact my OCS classmate 1Lt James Stokes.
I did know Jim died of his wounds on June 2nd, but had no idea that he was hit on May 10th.
RIP Brother, you will always be missed 😥🙏
