I get it, but $20M here and $20M there adds up after awhile and those $M’s could be better used elsewhere in support of the troops I’m sure.
But I like what Box is saying about renaming them after the city they’re in; “Fort Fayettenam” has a nice ring to it!

You are dating yourself, sir. I know. I remember that term from a long time ago.

When I went through Basic at Ft. Polk, we all thought that it was named for President Polk. Ironically, it's now called Ft. Johnson and, unless they have added a "Fort Naming History" in the training, most will think that it's named for one of the President Johnsons, likely LBJ.

(Irrelevant to thread) My father was stationed at Ft. Polk when he met my mother.
Fortunately for me he survived his journey across N. Africa, Sicily, Italy and S. France.

Changing the name doesn't change the place - "a rose by any other name" - and all that jazz...
In fact, I'll go as far as to say that I totally support these programs - but I'm just not going to celebrate them. If I am discussing 'Infantry Stuff' then simply refer to it (CORRECTLY) as the MCoE. If it is a discussion about parachutes or airdrop, I reference (CORRECTLY) the Quartermaster School. I have also taken to using "on the installation" in most of my correspondence - especially when I am referring to 'Installation Range Control'
The single fact about the entire charade - is that when racist democrats DEMANDING these places be named after confederates - the US government accommodated them in the spirit of reconciliation and unification. The original naming of these installations was NOT done - as many of these ignorant ill-informed activists would try to make people believe - was NOT done to be divisive. It is however, a terrible shame that there are so many activists that live a life devoid of any meaning but that which is derived from stirring up shit over things that simply don't matter to sane people.
That is all.
