Bill Behrens

I received this from Scot Crerar this morning. Bill was one of my team leaders when I had B/2/10 and later took command of the company. He will be at this phone number until Thursday in case any of you that know him want to give him a call. I talked with him a short while ago and his speech is labored but his spirit seems good.

Bill Behrens who was in 2/10th SFGA. His later career was as a Foreign Area Officer (Arabic).

Bill has been having major health problems. He had a lung transplant (something I didn't know was even possible) last summer. Recently he caught a cold and it progressed (regressed?) into double pneumonia. This put him in the hospital. His wife called me and was interested in the mechanics of burial at Arlington, so it was clearly very serious.

I talked to him this morning on the 'phone. He says he is very weak---a few steps are his limit---but he had no intention of dying at this time and hoped to return home before long. We talked of a number of you whose names came to mind. He said that between treatments he was bored out of his skull. I'm sure that he'd appreciate talking to some of you. His (hospital) phone number is 703 664 8549.

Col M,
I called Bill today, our first conversation in 28 years. It was really good to hear his voice and talk about the good old days. If you could send him my e-mail address and send me his, it would be deeply appreciated .

I also asked Don Davis to give him a call also.

Craig
