During the 1959 time frame the 10th had M14s which were used for weapons training and firing for familiarization. The TOE weapon was the carbine.

Very nostalgic. T-10 chutes, Bergen rucks, steel pots, 210 cm skiis, wool shirts and cotton winter battle pants. Those winter caps itched...
