Late rut this year and this guy had been working hard, dressed out at only 168lbs. Usually the boys we pull out of Ontario in Mid-late November are upwards of 250 out of the field.

Some Spartan porn as well, sent this off to that fine group of individuals for their trophy books.

I hope y'all got some good hunts in and filled the freezers.

That's a nice deer. I wonder what they eat in that country to make it through the winter?

Whitetails get big up North. I heard someone say that the further North the deer are and the further away from the ocean, the bigger they get...

Bagged a smallish 6point buck, with a sharp stick. Well, a bow and a sharp stick. Shot it at about 25 yds. Soon to be eaten.

I recently heard someone suggest that it has something to do with the winter temps in a region. Deer in southern Ms look like dogs. There is some speculation that decreased winter temperatures cause animals to need more body mass to generate heat for survival. *shrug*

I have no references for this, I heard it in passing on a radio show.

Barbarian, congrats on your kill! I hope its delicious.

Kansas, Nebraska and Iowa deer are typically larger than deer in Southern MO. Some say it has to do with diet, farmland vs timber, corn versus acorns.

Any deer taken with archery is somethin' to crow about. Congrats.

PS: Like the knife in the avatar. Got a similar model...

Thanks guys.

I'm still on cloud nine. Anytime someone starts bitching about something, I say, " Hey. It's ok. It's ok.... I smoked a deer this weekend."

Dusty,
Thanks. Your blade is a monster. When you get a hog, I want to hear the story.
