A History of the English Speaking Peoples by Winston Churchill.
It is not as ponderous as it sounds. Yes, it is 4 volumes long, but it's written in a very conversational style (imagine sitting in front of a fireplace with a bandy snifter in your hand listening to Sir Winston...) - it was written for the mass market just before WW2 when Churchill was not the PM and his family finances were rather precarious.
The book was mainly written in the late 1930s but not published until after the war.
Whole-heartedly recommended.

Jefferson and Monticello, The Biography of a Builder. By Jack McLaughlin
We visited Monticello last spring and left with more questions than answers. Saw some good books in their gift shop but waited till we got home and found the titles on Bookfinder.com, saved a bunch of money. It's a pretty good book.

Light read... Entertaining. If you're looking for some deep insights or geopolitical analysis go elsewhere.

Just finished "Blood on the Risers: A Novel of Conflict and Survival in Special Forces During the Vietnam War" by Michael O'Shea
This was recommended to me by a gentleman I struck up conversation with at my shooting club. He was wearing a Special Forces ballcap and I asked if he was SF. He was actually an Air Force orthopedic surgeon who had been assigned to Special Forces Command.
He said the author was a friend of his who was SF. Turns out he resides in same town in Texas as I.

Last Warning to the West
Last Warning to the West - Hungary's Triumph Over Communism and the Woke Agenda
Auth: Shea L. Bradley-Farrell, Ph.D
Solid book discussing exactly what the title says. Includes a good examination of Magyar history, addresses the Soviet times, and includes a 12-point checklist by Orban to help avoid finishing the downward spiral. The book is specifically targeted to "the West" in general and the United States in particular.
Amazon, approx $19-20.
