18A course backlog

I keep hearing that there are too many CPTs and not enough slots. Does anyone here have some clarity?

I know several ODA's commanded by CWOs. Not a CPT to be seen anywhere.

With the build up of the 4th BN in each of the groups, it won't be long before every CPT has a place.

Why?

Are you selected, or not?

Sir, I'm in the SFQC. I have finished language and SUT.

I'm specifically wondering about the 18A course and thought I might found some other students or SWC cadre on here who could extrapolate on waiting periods for starting.

There's no backlog. They are just making the classes bigger.

I have not run into anyone that got held back for anything but injuries or personal problems.

I know a small selection of officers from year group '05 with a few from '04 sprinkled in...at least, those are the YG I am aware of. Uniformly, their SFQC dates were scheduled for 1-2 months after MCCC. The unwritten expectation is that you show up about a month early to complete orientation to avoid getting rolled. I know a couple gents who tested out of language and jumped straight into the next TCS (formerly SUT).

Cadre indicates that officers are in demand at the moment. With the current IODA concept, they have seen as many as 3-4 O on one team. If my language group does not disproportionately attrit officers, we'll average 3 per team or so.

So, this is a "sample of one" so to speak, but that is a small slice of the world at the moment.

ETA: in contrast, my SFAS class was about 10% officers (started with 33 out of 350 or so).

I've never heard of anybody getting held back, unless they got recycled based on their performance. The last Sage class had about 3-4 O's per ODA. IMHO it limits the training value of Sage for those O's, but sounds like there is demand so SWC is supplying...
