Top Tier Schools ?

Not any more, Affirmative Action, Diversity, Communist/Socialist Agenda & Narrative at most Universities, NO Admission standards, Bribery is more of an asset than intelligence & athletic ability...Like the SFAS course, Yea, you got a green beret, now you're in Group lets see who you are and what you can do now & for all the tomorrows ...MISSION FIRST...

You’re too kind, but cheers!

I’m thinking this might be another indicator of me being around long enough to have personally experienced or observed some really substantial changes around us.

I definitely agree in principle, but push back on admission standards(although that can be quite subjective depending on school).

Here’s an example:

50 years ago, Stanford accepted 31% of applicants

When I attended Stanford(GSB) it was approx 9-10% of applicants admitted.

Today, Stanford accepted 3.35% of applicants, an order of magnitude harder than just half a lifetime ago.

The exact same applies across the Ivy League and other top tier schools as these school brands have shaped public perception to act as self-appointed gatekeepers in determining future success.

The good news is that while a few extreme outlier entrepreneurial successes do correlate with schools like Stanford, the majority of entrepreneurial successes correlate with hands on skillset and mindset.

Which is why outfits like Lambda School teach coding and software engineering like a hands-on trade accessible to nearly everyone, rather than requiring a degree and debt.

I look forward to a higher education reboot, where indoctrination is replaced by practical education, and elitism is replaced by accessibility.

How are land prices in New Zealand these days. I can see plenty of Americans moving out soon if this election goes the way the media wants it to.

Unlike liberal Democrats in Hollywood (excluding Matt Lauer) capitalist conservatives do see opportunities elsewhere and English speaking countries are far easier than having to learn a new language.

Prices have gone insane, and the exchange rate has gone strongly against the USD.

For example, exactly 20 years ago, the average NZ house in USD was $60,000.

Today it is USD $507,500.

In NZD it went from $150,000 to $725,000 in the last 20 years.

And the USD went from buying 2.5 NZD down to 1.4 NZD.

——-

There is a running joke amongst Big Tech executives about “taking a holiday to NZ on the jet” as being code for moving to the doomsday bunker.

But CV19 didn’t turn out the way they thought.

We have a small holiday place within very long walking distance of one of the higher profile big tech luxury bunkers.

——-

There are a fair few US expats down here.

It really is a great place, but it’s not without its problems.

Dangerous freedom is preferred by many here, much like the US......opposed by those who prefer the false comfort of totalitarian safety, much like the US.

So when I was looking up old application acceptance rates at Stanford I found this:

https://archives.stanforddaily.com/1974/12/05?page=1

Headline top right “China’s Higher Education System Politicized”

Talk about a reversal of Cultural Revolution relative positioning.

If they're anything like the folks I worked with as a kid in Texas....they now own (albeit some are probably still illegal aliens) their own landscaping companies and are making more money than ever employing those same "guys."

Thomas Stanley’s Millionaire Mind and related book series that started in the 90’s is excellent.

It covers the reality of most wealth creation in America thru interviewing large numbers of American millionaires excluding those who inherited wealth.

Most is 1st generation entrepreneurial wealth, more often than not, is found in boring and dirty jobs often overlooked by academia and media marketing.

Boring and hard often add up to the American Dream.

And very commonly led by 1st generation legal immigrants.

I am a christian and a pastor, so will post on the basis of scripture. But the proof is in how things are going. It isn't going to get better, it will only get worse, that is a scriptural principle, but there is certainly proof in our society. People have said, we need better education, but that certainly isn't working, because it is our education system that is teaching that which isn't moral. All we have to do is look back even 20 years, when 9/11 happened, and we came together as a nation, to how disjointed things are now, and how little unity there is now. Whether you are a believer in the Bible or not, the proof on how bad things are is simply to look at what is going on.
I have lived more than 40 years in third world countries, where corruption is rampant, and I used to take pride in the fact that the USA followed law. Well, we are equal to those countries, where elections are stolen, where bribes pay the way, and where the entitled get theirs. There is no hope, in the Biblical view, outside of God.

our nation's leaders are doing their best to ensure that we are the leading nation in the third world
...and sadly, they are doing it because that is what we the people have paid them to do

Please post this (another) comment on basis of scripture...I’d be interested to see which scriptures you’re implying with your post. Our job is not to worry, as God will emplace the leaders in positions he wants for rebuke or praise of a nation, all for his glory. Our job is to spread the Gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. That he suffered and bled on the cross for our sins, died, and rose alive after three days, defeating death, that who would turn back to God and believe in Jesus would have everlasting life.

I'll take this a step further and ask since when is it the responsibility of the state to teach your children what is or isn't moral? Seems to me if you are expecting the education system to teach your offspring morality...you're probably lacking in that area.

Funny thing is that those same useless leaders are voted in continuously and reap the benefits that they do not deserve. Blame the people for that, the ones who yell for change but vote in the same lame ass idiots as before. 3rd World, yep the inner cites, and States that are controlled by Demomorons. They throw money into social programs that don't work, college education is a joke, they give, give, give and nothing is asked in return and they get away with it and know they can. Meanwhile the cities are now the new trash dumps of human garbage and crime.
