19th Group / CH-47CRASH IN 2011?

Casey L. Gray, a candidate for Congress from the California 28th District (vicinity Burbank, CA) has established a web page in which he claims service in the 19th SF Group. Specifically, he makes the following claims:

- To be a 11B Sergeant E5, with a Ranger Tab, Static Line Airborne (Ft. Benning) and Military Freefall (Ft. Bragg, NC) qualified during a prior Navy term of service in Navy special operations.

- To be a member of the 19th SF Group.

- To have attended SFAS and being "SELECTED" (his capital letters). [But apparently never attended the Q course].

- To have attended Foal Eagle 2011 (an annual field training exercise conducted in Korea) as a member of the 19th SF Group.

- Being in a CH-47 Chinook crash while on Foal Eagle (that year, it was from February 28 - March 31, 2011) and sustaining severe injuries.

- Being medically retired in 2014 after being determined to be 100% disabled.

Can any members of the 19th SF Group confirm/deny any of the above?

Especially, I have been unable to find any record of a CH-47 crash during Foal Eagle, or anywhere else in the world during 2011 for that matter.
(Other than the infamous Chinook shoot down in Afghanistan in August 2011 that killed many SEAL team members).

MR2:

Yes, that's the source of my questions. It's just so unusual that I can't find anything about a Chinook crash in Korea in 2011 on any "Chinook" web site; "military air mishaps" web site; or "Foal Eagle" websites.

I've written him directly, but so far no answer.

I have confirmed that he did graduate from Ranger School and has the Tab, earned while he was in the Navy in Special Operations SWCC.

Was posting source links for folks. A lot on that website smells fishy.

Interesting that SWCC sent people to Ranger. Is 19th in Texas now? Odd that anyone would pose a Chinook crash, but then how else to describe the 100% disability.

As an aside, I do believe that 100% of the Congress is 100% disabled in one form or another.

Need to do some digging. This sounds familiar, I recall hearing this story, but I don't have first hand info. Will ask around and post what I find out.

I'd like to give him the chance to clear things up before going the TAH route.
He was in fact tabbed Ranger, and so far he has fully disclosed that while he may have attended SFAS and was selected, he never did the Q course.

So he may have been what we oldtimers would call a "candy-stripe" 11B Sergeant, filling a TO & E vacancy and waiting for a quota, when he was injured.

I also contribute to a web site called "Army Air Crews" that documents and memorializes Army aviation fatalities, peacetime and combat. Perhaps there were no fatalities and that's why I can't find his CH-47 crash there, but I also can't find it anywhere else.

My suspicions were aroused by the fact that he describes a peacetime FOAL EAGLE 2011 NG OCONUS training exercise (probably executed as Annual Training/"Summer Camp") as "activated and deployed in OPERATION ENDURING FREEDOM" (which is the combat operation in Afghanistan) with the additional description of "being in battle" as his divorce "battle" was taking place.

Confirmed

I was able to confirm he was a non-qualified soldier who attended Foal Eagle and was involved in a CH-47 wire strike/crash. No info on whether he passed SFAS.

Colorado and Utah were unable to keep those companies manned and had to give up the force structure.

Now companies from two different BNs share a space in TX.

Would have made more sense for 1st BN to give that company to 5th BN and take up A Co in CA in return, shortening the geographic distance to BN for both companies, but apparently that would have hurt peoples' feelings.
