In 1965, Charles Schulz, a devout Christian, and creator of the Peanuts comic strip, was asked to create a Christmas special for CBS featuring the Peanuts Characters. He agreed with one requirement, that they allow him to include the story of the birth of Jesus.
Although the stations' executives were hesitant and tried to convince him otherwise, Schulz was insistent.
As a result, for the past 50 plus years, millions of people have watched and “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and heard the story of Jesus and “what Christmas is all about.
”It wasn’t until a few years back that I realized a “hidden message” in the film. Linus, a child who seems to have some insecurities as he carries a security blanket with him at all times.
In fact, Linus NEVER drops his blanket, except once... While sharing the message of “what Christmas is all about,” Linus drops his blanket at the exact moment he says the words, “fear not!”
In this seemingly innocent moment, Linus delivers a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Christmas. We are to “fear not”, for Jesus is born. We needn’t rely on material things for security, we have God with us, “Immanuel”, (Matthew 1:23)
Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior - the true meaning of Christmas. A while back, someone informed me, indignantly so, that Linus picks up his blanket at the end of the speech so my interpretation must be wrong.
Well, he was right, Linus does pick up his blanket at the end of his speech. However, he “drops” it again later...
Amid big, bright, colorful, shiny artificial trees, Charlie Brown chose the least of these, a little, wooden tree with just a few branches.
Shortly thereafter, Linus uses his blanket to wrap about the base of the tree and says, “Maybe it just needs a little love”.
At that moment, the tree “awakens”, stands tall and firm.
A reminder that no matter who we are, how many mistakes we’ve made, a “little love” can make all the difference.
Let’s strive to “fear not” (Luke 2:10) and “love one another” (John 13:34), not just at Christmastime, but the whole year through.
Borrowed from Charlene M. Speer & ‘Christian Life Ministry’ on Facebook...

Happy Thanksgiving to all and especially to those who are spending it miles from home, freedom is not free.

Best way to celebrate liberty & those who paid for it in this household is to have everyone over, to terrorize a turkey & fixin's with sharp objects and then semi-recline while still revelling in each other's company.
No fear.
Salud! and Best Wishes to you All!

I wish you all - both home and abroad - the happiest of Thanksgivings. I pray that you are able to enjoy it to the fullest with friends and family while lifelong memories are made.

Thank you, Penn
Hoping all of you had a joyous Santo De Glotoneria
and are over the dreaded Thanksgiving Shemomechama.
This year was all the usual table fare, with one exception. My 15YO g-daughter stepped up and baked the Pecan & Apple pies and did a fantastic job.
Not only did we do San Gibin, but the g-kids set up the Christmas decorations. AND I also gave my G-son an early Xmas gift of a new bike. He rides to school daily and his current steed didn't make it.
At our house we don't do sports,, instead, we watch Angry Birds 1 & 2

I'm thankful for all of decent God fearing patriots on this board that wake up every morning with a positive attitude in spite of the world around us.
I'm also thankful for pellet smokers loaded up with competition blend hardwood pellets and 13 pound turkeys.
and whisky - I'm REALLY thankful for whisky
I'm also thankful for whiskey - because YES, there is a difference.

Thanks to everyone here and all of the service members that are still keeping us safe. God Bless you.
Agree Box, pellet smokers are the best; brined and smoked a 20lb bird for a multi family feast in the neighborhood…most of the folks went for the smoked rather than the roasted.

She is a Boss! That apple pie looks menu photo-shoot quality; we need a drool emoji.

Madeline has baking in her genes..
My #1 daughter Stacey(her mom) is a fantastic cook and baker. Stacey runs a little in-house bakery in support of the "Cakes4Kids" program in NOVA.

The girl had just been placed in a new home and upon returning from school, her foster mother presented her with a chocolate birthday cake. The young girl burst into tears and immediately ran upstairs. Concerned that she had done something wrong, the mother made her way upstairs, knocked on the door, and asked to enter. She told the girl that she was very sorry that she had upset her and that her intention was to make her happy. "If you don't like chocolate, I can bake you a different kind of cake.” "It's not that,” the girl replied, "I've just never had a birthday cake.” Well that was it — Libby was resolved to make sure the children in her community had birthday cakes to celebrate.
What Libby started in 2010 as a grassroots efforts with a few volunteers baking 13 cakes for a few agencies, has turned into quite a robust operation with hundreds of volunteers currently baking over 3,000 cakes per year for over 140 agencies!

A couple of examples of her handy work.
You might notice,, Pop Pop benefits from the effort
