Here comes the third intifada. Apparently, no one learned anything from the Olso Accords.

Ditto, this, and the withdrawal from Gush Katif in 2005-- knocking down our own citizens' homes only encourages the Arabs.

EDIT - I just learned that our current defense minister published a book called The Long Short Road, in which he details (among many other things) a massive intelligence failure during the Oslo years that occurred exactly because Israel trusted the PLO to police their own people. Hopefully someone will learn from history.

In a nutshell, it was a massive copycat attack, based on the 2010 Mt. Carmel Fire. It's that time of year when Israel gets a strong westerly wind from across the middle east, but the weather is still dry, so it's perfect for expanding small fires into big fires.

Here is a list of all the places attacked, and the damage done. You'll notice that many of these places are outside of Yehuda/Shomron.

37 suspects were arrested, the bulk of whom were Arabs with Israeli citizenship, living outside of Yehuda/Shomron (that means Israeli citizens with PLO/Hamas sympathies).

It's clear that the arsonists are refining their technique. Testimony from the Beit Meir fire indicates that the arsonists deliberately set this fire to block the only road in and out of that community.

In terms of effectiveness? No one died, and disaster only brings the community together more tightly. The homes that were destroyed will be rebuilt. Forests will be re-planted with hardier vegetation (flammable pine trees that burned will be replaced with oak, etc). Even though the PLO sent their own fire trucks and crews to help fight the fires, public perception of the PLO only grows in negativity.

On a lighter note, it was a great week for plane-spotting I observed CL-415s and Be-200s flying over my home and office, in addition to Israel's own fire fighting aircraft. Many national leaders will be getting Christmas cards from PM Netanyahu.

A few weeks ago, a Arab ran over a group of IDF officer candidates in Jerusalem. Their battle buddies killed the Arab terrorist.

Now, the Interior Minister is evicting the terrorist's family from Jerusalem.

We should do the same here in the USA. Take the entire family of the terrorist and drop them back where they came from.

Last week, Arabs on Temple Mount murdered two Israeli Druze border policemen, using weapons that they'd smuggled into the holy site.

In response, the Israeli police set up a checkpoint with metal detectors at the Lion's Gate entrance to the Temple Mount compound.

The Jordanian Waqf, who controls/maintains the al Aqsa Mosque and Dome of the Rock, are upset about the checkpoint, and, with complicity from the PLO and Hamas, have been instigating riots, ambushes, and home invasions throughout Yehuda/Shomron.
