Essential task, better than a "reading"
Just my .02 cents, but I have to agree with jbour13. Go see your Intelligence shop and get to know then very well. We can and will share a ton of great information.

This book is produced by RAND Corp. Covering smuggling in Colombia and how the political instability and violence inpacts the drug trade, insurgent conflicts, Political corruption, and small-arms snuggling to support the drugs.

This book covers overall smuggling. I looked at the information provided as a tool. A Discipline that you can improve your analysis, transform intelligence analysis into a full-fledged discipline to routine methods to arrange according to your given AOR and plan or system.

These were actually part of the syllabus in a Latin American class I took in college. It was a core course for a Latin American Studies minor the school was developing. One of the more interesting classes I took.

The Fifth discipline by: Peter Senge
Peter Senge’s book (PDF), The Fifth Discipline, is based on fifteen years of experience in putting the book’s ideas into practice. As Senge puts out ways to look ways at learning organization. Many may get stuck in a rut as they try to implement what they learned in reading this PDF or the book. For me this helps fill in my lack of understanding with dozens of questions, examples and exercises. As an Intelligence analysts you have to pull from so many different disciplines. For me, reading what Senge's writes about how to take different organizations and use them effectively.

Fixing Intel: A Blueprint for Making Intelligence Relevent in Afghanistan is a great read. This is great not only for 18F's but TM SGTs and Cdrs. INTEL FUSION.
