FOX 8 News
Highpoint, NC 5 Sep 2013
Did anyone else see this?
There have been numerous reports of flashes of light in the skies early today, between 1 and 4 a.m. It’s been described as a large, golden-yellowish burst of light in a sphere shape. Someone described it as a cross between lightning and a flashing cell tower, but it was neither.
The majority of our Morning News crew saw it on their way in coming from all directions, including Randolph County, the Charlotte area, Greensboro and other parts of Guilford County. One of our producers saw it about 4 or 5 times between 2:30 and 3 a.m. on her way in from Asheboro.
Our own Emily Byrd says she’s checked weather data to see if it could have been lightning, but there was nothing.
If you saw this and got a picture, please share it on our wall!

Strange ‘flashes of light’ In Sky Confirmed As Army Training Exercises
FOX 8 News, 6 Sep 2013
GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. — Numerous flashes of light in the sky reported early Thursday morning were caused by U.S. Army Special Forces training near the Guilford and Randolph County line.
Many reported seeing bright flashes of light between 1 and 4 a.m. Thursday. The flashes were described as a large, golden-yellowish bursts of light in a sphere shape. Some described it as a cross between lightning and a flashing cell tower. One FOX8 employee saw the flash of light 4-5 times between 2:30 and 3 a.m.
On Friday, a spokesman for the Fort Bragg Public Affairs Team confirmed the flashes of light were “most likely from U.S. Army Special Forces training related to Robin Sage.”
The spokesman added the training has “pretty much wrapped up.”
Robin Sage is a two-week exercise that runs eight times a year, once for each class of Special Forces candidates. Students participate in the exercise before graduating the course and moving on to their first assignments in the Army’s Special Forces community.
For more than 40 years, Robin Sage has been the litmus test for Soldiers striving to earn the coveted Green Beret. It is during Robin Sage, held in 15 rural North Carolina counties, that soldiers must put all of the skills they have learned in an unconventional-warfare training exercise.
Fort Bragg issued the following statement about past Robin Sage training:
“All Robin Sage movements and events have been coordinated with public safety officials throughout and within the towns and counties hosting the training. Residents may hear blank gunfire and see occasional flares. Controls are in place to ensure there is no risk to persons or property. Residents with concerns should contact local law enforcement officials, who will immediately contact exercise control officials.”

So, when did they start using flying saucers in Robin Sage?

We finally get some "dark side" infill support for a training exercise, the media blows it all out of proportion, and now it'll never happen again. BAS***DS!

A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear.

Quote:
Lt. Col. Grant Martin, who oversees Robin Sage, says the exercise would be impossible without regular North Carolinians chipping in to help. The military has tried in the past to use contractors, he says, but nothing can replace real towns and real relationships.
“You want to create, as much as you can, a complex and real environment with real dilemmas,” Martin says. “It is difficult to do that without people basically playing themselves.”
