Sneaked a hunt into the Covid lockdown
Managed to get out and about during our countrywide lockdown. Shot 4 Blesbuck between my middle son and I and came across some armour in the veldt.

Congrats,, Crank up the BBQ
Been watching several Veterinarian and Zoo shows lately. They all seem to have domesticated Rhinos,, that love to have their butts scratched.
Are they as fierce as told in the old hunting tales or are they really big puppies?

Congrats, Mike. Looks like a very nice place to get away from house arrest!

JJ, White Rhino are fairly non-agressive, however, like any African game, you could catch them on an off day and end up as kebab. Black Rhino are really grumpy and should always be treated with respect.

I make all into biltong and dried sausage. Blesbuck are really good biltong animals and not fantastic cooking venison.

I nowadays use my custom shop, heavy barrel Remington 700, .375 H&H Magnum for all hunting often shooting at 350 yards with Federal 300 gr ammo. I have a Leopold 3-9 scope on it with quick release mounts to go to dangerous game open sights quickly. My other hunting rifle is a Tikka 30-06 which I lend to my sons on hunts.

Always thought that's the thinking man's answer to one rifle. Ever since I got to shoot one as a kid the 375 just made sense to me. The recoil seemed more like a serious 'shove' rather than being battered. And that cartridge seems to feed & chamber like butter.
Biltong? You the man.
Do you do anything specific to it before hanging (as many flavor jerky over here) ?
