There really isn't as much double speak as people think. More often than not an institution will tell you EXACTLY what their position is.
I have said it over and over again to anyone that will listen - when someone tells you who they are, BELIEVE THEM !!!

"We expect all soldiers to meet the exact same minimum standards, regardless of age, gender, or occupational specialty,"
The Army is concerned with "MINIMUM STANDARDS". We are spending MILLION$ of dullards (sic) going as far down the rabbit hole as it takes to find a way to create a minimum standard that can be reached by "ALL SOLDIERS". We are zealously striving for mediocrity across the force. If we can find a baseline MINIMUM standard that can be reached by ALL soldiers, we can claim victory in our effort to prove that everyone is the same.

As an example:
It doesn't matter that the current world record female 100 meter dash has been stuck at 10.49 since 1988 (and is disputed because of faulty wind readings - the adjusted record is a controversial 10.61)
The 25th fastest men's 100 Meter dash is a 9-Way tie at 9.89 - you dont even get to compete for the gold as a man if you aren't breaking the 10 second barrier - a 40 year old man ran a 9.93 in 2016.
The average High School sprinter (male or female) can do it in about 13 or 14 - so, if the minimum standard is a 14 second 100 meter dash...
...yes, all age, gender, and occupational specialties would be equal

The ACFT is no different. We are adjusting the task to meet the standard. That is not how you prepare for winning in direct human combat. You train to a standard that meets the task. You cant make 100 meters shorter. You cant make the clock run slower. Massage the rules enough and you can find a common "MINIMUM standard" when your declarative statement is, "We expect all soldiers to meet the exact same minimum standards, regardless of age, gender, or occupational specialty,"

We like to give long boring LPD speeches about near peer threats and great power competition - and we present those stupid fucking lectures and empty headed pod cast discussions centered around a core of "minimum standards" that are massaged and polished to make everyone sound equal.
We repeatedly and even SHAMELESSLY use phrases like reducing obstacles to training or suggest that we are somehow eliminating barriers that will allow more people to "join" when all that crap really is just a fancy euphemism for "manipulating the standards" so that we can reach our goal of being able to say that all soldiers can meet the exact same minimum standard.

Its all about equity and fairness you stupid mother fuckers.

Funny, mine posited the exact same question. Maybe it's in the magic ink on the CFI test.

Good Example

I only see one problem The Army uses Metric's not Standard's.

This by the way briefs well as you pointed out and can be changed depending on who is being briefed via power point manipulation, pending approval up the chain of command and revisions x20+.

Remember perception is reality !

Nice...

I'll turn that statement into a pun and make this observation - if they would stop using "metrics" and follow "standards" like they are supposed to - they could declare that a woman broke the 10 second barrier in "The Hundred"

100 "METRIC" dash record is 10.49
100 "STANDARD" dash record is 9.91

Life always turns out better for those that are willing to follow standards instead of trying to pander to 'metrics'

Army Times update:

Removing gender and age neutral scoring

Regarding the 2.5 mile walk. I'm hoping this is for wounded/injured personnel?

Everything is going exactly as planned--go all-in on the legitimacy and importance of gender-neutral standards to justify opening close combat jobs to women, then when the Army applies gender-neutral standards to an Army-wide soldier task cry 'sexism' and get gender-normalized standards reapplied to gain administrative advantages on evaluations, promotions, and OMLs.

Exactly-As-Planned.

So I guess the concept of using science to develop a common standard has been thrown straight into the shitter. It reminds me of an old Irish folk song - I'd tell you all the name of the band that wrote the lyrics, but I just cant remember Who...

We'll be fighting in Ukraine
with our genders all the same
And the morals that we worshiped will be gone
And the pronouns that we own
Social justice proved them wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song

I'll tip my hat to the woke constitution
Take a bow for the woke revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my M4 and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We’ve all been fooled again

The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
and the liberals had full control, that's all
And the world don’t look the same
All the history books have changed
'and Afghanistan we lost in our last war

I'll tip my hat to the woke constitution
Take a bow for the woke revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my M4 and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We’ve all been fooled again,
OH NO…

I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half-alive
I'll get my COVID passport and smile at the sky
most Americans are hypnotized – I don’t know why…

Do you?

Yeah

There's nothing in the street
it all looks different to me
And the slogans are effaced, by-the-bye
And the party on the left
Is the party on the right
Politician’s noses all grown longer overnight

I'll tip my hat to the woke constitution
Take a bow for the woke revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my M4 and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We’ve all been fooled again
we’ve been fooled again
OH NO…

Yeah !!!

The new PT test
Same as the old PT test

Just a thought for the moderators...
...isn't it time we moved this thread about the Unites States Army "Combat" fitness test into "The Comedy Zone"
Even the Army has admitted that the test is just a “general physical fitness assessment” that doesn't actually reflect success during any of the 'Warrior Tasks' or Battle Drills

How can we take it seriously when an unnamed senior enlisted leader needs to argue that the word "combat" should remain part of the name because after all, we all "go to combat"

yes indeed - meet the new boss - same as the old boss

So, they took away the Leg Tuck and added the Plank. How many complaints will there be now this was added, because planks are not easy either. If they couldn't do the minimum leg tucks, then wow this will be a challenge. Gender-Neutral is so BS, either you can or you cannot, so no free rides.

"Planks are the MacGyver of bodyweight movements: They're super tough and great for almost any situation. They're best known for working your core, but planks engage more than 20 muscles, including your shoulders, back, arms, legs, and glutes".

They should take a more progressive approach to health and fitness. They've allowed liberal progressivism to ooze its way into nearly every other facet of military readiness - why stop now. There are more pleasurable, efficient, and faster ways to stay in shape.

They say that having sex can burn as many calories as running three miles...
...and there's no way in hell's half-acre that I can run three miles in less than a minute.

Lawmakers order Army to create separate fitness standard for combat specialties, By Leo Shane III and Meghann Myers, Jun 15, 04:46 PM

Senate lawmakers unhappy with the newly revised Army Combat Fitness Test want service leaders to develop stronger fitness standards for soldiers most likely to see combat, congressional sources told Military Times Wednesday.

The move would also require all of the armed services to consider separate fitness standards for troops in non-combat jobs, to ensure that a more difficult fitness test wouldn’t force out, for example, medical and cyber specialists whose jobs may call for different physical skills.
