For those following, the Yankees were every lucky to get by the Cleveland, but the ASTROS, like they may need divine intervention.

Hope the Yanks didn't party too much last night. They are going to need to be on the very top of their game, playing like they did in the first half of the season rather than the second half.

BBHead, The Astros pitching is amazing! A 5 to 0 shutout is beyond impressive. I was hoping that the Yankees bats would catch fire, wishful thinking. I think the season will end for them tonight.

Astros are a powerful team. The Phillies looks like they have peaked at the perfect time, but I don't know if its enough to beat the Astros 4 times.

For the Yankees...wait till next year?

Yankees tonight lost to the Mainers 10-2. Woo pitches 6 incredible innings for Seattle, leaving the mound with a shutout almost in hand. Woo will surly dominate as he matures as a pitcher, he was a joy to watch, and mind you, I am a diehard Yankees fan, but not the kind that records mental notes of players or plays in past games or seasons, I just love the sense of how the yankees always forge a team and how resilient they have been over time.
But, back to tonight, in their 10-2 lost, the bronx bombers ran through their entire pitching string, forcing them to use one of the field players as a pitcher.
Top of the 9th they send their 3rd baseman Isiah Kiner-Falefa to the mound. Three up and three down, with one strike out. His pitching was skilled, with movement, curves, sinkers, and a fast ball. It was a blast to watch him, and watch the bench watching him, as the camera crew panned the dugout. The players were laughing, the score did not matter, high five on strikes, smiles and disbelief all around.
In its essence, it was the game they played as kids, win or lose, they were having fun. It wasn’t about the score, or the record, or money. it was about being in the moment, watching an event unfold, and wouldn’t you know it, when in the bottom of the 9th, the Yankees last turn at the plate Isiah Kiner-Falefa comes to bat and he hits a home run!!!
Pure joy, it was awesome to see that in major leagues.

Perfect Game

If you watched the Yankees and the A's last night, you saw Domingo German throw a perfect game, you also witnessed the that it would have not have happened without the incredible Team Effort, that put German's amazing pitching feat into the record books.

The video of that game would make a valuable example of teamwork, as each and every player made a deterministic contribution that retired every batter for the A's. From grounders to pop up's, double plays, etc., etc., every position punched that card for German

It was a helluva of an effort.

That's something special no matter who does it. Glad you got to enjoy it visually. And hopefully he'll keep his personal life together so that the game doesn't just become an asterisk.

I remember having Koufax' perfect game on in the background when I was young. I say 'background' because I was doing homework & cleaning the '03, and a perfect game on the radio can be B.O.R.I.N.G until you realize later what's happening.
