Doris Baker Honorary Green Beret Bad Tolz

Just received an email from a Tolzer. If you had kids at Bad Tolz before 1980 Ms. Doris Baker was their teacher/principal. She was made an honorary Green Beret.

Here's a great video on her:

Enjoy!

Outstanding and well-deserved.

"Miss Baker" (as we called her) was the BTAES Principal for my son K-2 when we were there 1976-1978. She made it a point to "know" her students (her 'children') and their families well, as well as the greater German community at large. It is hard to believe she is 97 - she looks and sounds no different than I remember her from those days nearly four decades ago now.

The news station is in error, though, as she is not the only woman to write about SF - Linda Robinson's "Masters of Chaos" is a good read.

I thought that name sounded familiar.

Doris Baker is the author of "The Originals".

Quite good and hard to find book on the early days of SF in Germany from a different angle.

For those who don't have it, it's been reissued and is available on Amazon.

Nice to read of this honor.
