DAM!! Worked with him and he was my neighbor for a while. GREAT guy. Couldn't get the Obit to open, what took him down? What a super individual - just a class act all around. The world lost a hell of a warrior.

Here you go:

Quote:
Sgt. Maj. Thomas Richard “Ric” Landreth, U.S. Army (ret.), 63, of Southern Pines, passed away after a brief illness Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Duke University Hospital.

Born April 1, 1957, at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla. to the late Thomas and Peggy Landreth, Ric proudly served in the U.S. Army Special Ops Command until his retirement in 2005. He had more than 30 years of military service, which included deployments to Grenada, Panama, Somalia, Bosnia, Afghanistan and Iraq. Ric loved his country and was extremely proud and honored to have served with such an elite group of brothers in arms.

Ric was truly a gentleman. He loved his family and was such a proud grandfather. He enjoyed hunting, spending time at the VFW and watching all New England sports.

In addition to his parents, Ric was preceded in death by one son, James Patrick Landreth.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth “Liz” Landreth; children, Tudor Landreth, Shannon Landreth and Ryan Landreth; one grandchild, Sheamus Landreth, who was his Nerf war warrior buddy; two brothers, Timothy Landreth (Ellen), and Michael Landreth (Bud); one sister, Tonya Landreth; dear aunt, Ann Cauley; 22 nieces and nephews; and many other loving family and friends.

Due to the restrictions of COVID-19, no services will be planned locally at this time. Service and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery, with full military honors, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Special Ops Foundation.
Online condolences may be left at www.bolesfuneralhome.com.
Services are entrusted to Boles Funeral Home of Southern Pines.
RIP, SGM Landreth.
