Ethiopia is at war with itself

Ethiopia is at war with itself. Here's what you need to know about the conflict

https://www.cnn.com/2021/11/03/afric...ntl/index.html

Once again in Africa the base cause is tribal.

"When Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed received the Nobel Peace Prize in 2019, he was lauded as a regional peacemaker. Now, he is presiding over a protracted civil war that by many accounts bears the hallmarks of genocide and has the potential to destabilize the wider Horn of Africa region.

In November 2020, Abiy ordered a military offensive in the northern Tigray region and promised that the conflict would be resolved quickly. One year on, the fighting has left thousands dead, displaced more than 2 million people from their homes, fueled famine and given rise to a wave of atrocities. ...."

Another stellar choice by the Nobel Peace Prize selection committee.

Modern sub-Saharan Africa is a perfect combination of the worst parts of traditional tribal societies & European colonial oversight. As long as Africa is populated, it will continue to eat itself.

Isn’t that place called a “Shithole”… asking for a friend?

Sad deal....that country has great potential. Back after their last war against Mengistu (sp) 5th had folks there asap. I enjoyed Addis and also went to Asmara on the one road that was still open.
Muslims and Christians is the other wedge.

Firstly, I have a vested interest in this civil war as I exclusively drink Ethiopian coffee.

If my supply of Ethiopian coffee is interrupted I’m not sure what I’ll do.

Speaking of interrupted supply…

No mention of Egypt and Ethiopia’s Water War.

The Grand Ethiopian Rennassiance Dam is completed and being filled since last year.

The biggest dam in Africa(6.5 GW) that could reduce Egypt’s Nile flow.

Egypt was spanked by Saudi paid, Israeli armed, and UK trained rebels in the Yemen way back in the day.

Perhaps Egypt wants to do the same to Ethiopia and disrupt the Ethiopian economy and dam via a UW campaign by proxy?

If I was running Egypt like Machiavelli, I’d be trying to discretely undermine Ethiopia’s government and disrupt its economy to reduce Nile river resource loss downstream.

Curious if they tend to alternate episodes (that is, take turns), or do these 2-legged wedge issues run concurrently?
