Who is on the 18B committee?

Who is on the 18B committee?

This Jr B needs a remedial "fix-it" class.

The source said the BCGs were sent out for coating and returned with the inverted gas key.

Could you produce a Kalifornicate legal bolt action by eliminating the gas key and plugging the barrel gas block?

It would turn the AR "types" into a straight bolt pullback like the Swiss K-31.

That sounds like it would work, if it was a permanent plug.
The ATF? CA AG? would have to rule on whether or not a work-around of removing the front sight, tapping the gas port at the barrel and inserting a threaded plug, then reattaching the front sight would render the rifle “not readily” convertible to semi automatic functionality.

By the way, since I’ve never had to deal with it, can the staked bolts be removed with an extra tough hex wrench and lots of leverage? Or does the staked portion have to be drilled out?

Not an X-spurt, but I have built a couple of FAL, AR, & AK kit builds.

I think the quick method would be to use a reverse bit kit to blackout the staked screws.

As for the gas port/block:

1) Incert a short piece of the gas tube upside down in the gas block and add JBL to secure it

2) Spikes ST-22 (22LR) uses a portless gas block, as does other 22LR AR variants

3) Use an adjustable gas block with the vent closed

4) JB weld the gas port

Looking closer, the gas key screws don't actually appear to be properly staked. There are pretty staking indents on the key, but it doesn't look like the job was actually finished sufficient to impede removal. I've also seen before where the staking is simply reversed and the indent is driven back out of the way.

They sure are purty, tho'.
