Wow, Cyber terrorism works!
Cyber threats are working against some companies, but physical violence? I don't think whoever is behind the threats has the ability to carry out the physical violence. But it's got Hollywood crapping it's pants!
New York premiere of 'The Interview' canceled
The premiere of Seth Rogen and James Franco’s comedy “The Interview” in New York has been canceled in the wake of a message sent by the Sony hackers that threatened a 9/11-style attack on theaters showing the film.
In a message emailed to various reporters and accompanying the latest in a series of leaks that have included employee emails, health and financial information, the hackers who call themselves "Guardians of Peace" sent a grim warning to people planning to attend screenings of "The Interview," even warning people who live near cinemas to leave home, according to a report from Variety.
“Warning…We will clearly show it to you at the very time and places “The Interview” be shown, including the premiere, how bitter fate those who seek fun in terror should be doomed to,” reads the message posted on Tuesday. “Soon all the world will see what an awful movie Sony Pictures Entertainment has made. The world will be full of fear.”

Let me get the straight. The "Guardians of Peace" want to attack any theater that plays a movie from the same people who made movies such as "This is the End" and "Pineapple Express"? Movies so outlandish that nobody could take them seriously. These "Guardians" will do this in such a way that even nearby homes will be in danger?
I'm not sure they understand what Guarians of Peace means.

It was just about two years ago that a film came out about Jesus and Satan looked a little to much like our dear leader Barack, so the Obama regime had his likeness scrubbed from the movie. You don't have to go all the way to North Korea to see censorship and tyranny

Funny, where's all the hollywood "heros" now???
I'm sure Matt Damon and George Looney will stand and defend those theater's! They were "operators" were they not?

I doubt these guy's have that capability, but that is part of the new generation of warfare. Physical attacks that are geared toward a cyber strategy. Whether it is physically emplacing a virus on a server, using surveillance or kinetic attacks attack against cyber infrastructure or personnel. I wouldn't be surprised if teams like these already exist, whether they are state sponsored like Israel or Iran, or non state actors like MNC or organized crime.
Some call it Hybrid Warfare

I didn't even really care to see this movie in the first place but now with all the crap stirring up I plan on going to see it opening night just to show them I'm not intimated by them. The ultimate irony in it is rather than their threats dissuading me it encouraged me to now go see it!
I liked Pineapple Express and This is the End anyway so I'll probably enjoy it.
Anybody else plan on checking it out?

What's at stake.
While it may be good sport to mock Hollywood and those who work in the arts, it has been estimated that creative industries account for about 3.2% of U.S. GDP.
That is about $504 billion and 2 million jobs for all creative industries. For Hollywood itself, that's about $47 billion and 310k jobs. That is, everyday people who work very hard are at risk if this type of activity is laughed off as trivial or inconsequential.
