Setting the record straight

Please follow the site rules by introducing yourself in the proper thread, and filling out your profile...

THEN - you can repost the missing content with a special eye towards why it seems a little odd to make your first two posts in a thread that seems to have been settled with a "Thank you gentlemen" by the original poster.

It should not be a weapon that an expert uses against an officer to prove the dog unreliable for PC it should be a weapon that the officer uses. Training records were meant for just that to use to better train the dog. Currently officers are being sold on the idea that record keeping is a chore and something to be feared. What Mr. Nicely was trying to do was teach officers that when they use them for their designed purpose, training, then deficiencies in either the dog or handler will be seen and able to correct proactively. However, nobody wanted to listen. Notice though that none of his dogs had reliability issues. Why? Because he taught the officers how to properly document and analyze records and use them to make sure that the dog or officer are not falling into any habits that could cause the dog to have a false response or reliability issue. So, when I am done, officers will not only be able to have a reliable dog on paper they will actually have a reliable dog. So that IF the dogs reliability is called into question all the officer has to do is hit print. THIS was Mr. Nicelys goal, to make a dog reliable and protect the 4th amendment right of the people. An oath he swore to as a Marine and Police Officer. One that all of you swore to as well. When this is done, you will all be eating your words. There are already several people in the LEO community who hated Mr. Nicely that now, knowing what is coming and understanding that it was his real goal all along who have a completely different outlook on him, what he was trying to accomplish and cannot wait for this to be released. It will be the tap tap bing for the officer and the dog....if used correctly. If not it will be their worst nightmare. The choice will ultimately come down to the officer and whether or not they are willing to put the work in required to learn and implement the program.
