View Of SF Recruiting Circa 30 Years Ago

A classic - reminds of the way we draftees who had done well with our initial entry and physical testing were given the option to volunteer for SF training. I took it and never looked back...

Richard - I fell for the old, "but you are probably not good enough" routine. Boy did I show them!

Does anyone - anyone - have or know where I can find a copy
of a 1969 era recruiting pamphlet for Special Forces that
had the following features:
- photo of A Team in fatigues on the cover (spread over the foldout).
- inside was a picture of sharpened pencils, next to a list
of requirements "Apply if you are drug free...., etc"
- then there was a page of the pencils flipped to the eraser side,
with words like "Don't apply if ....".
Very effective pamphlet, at least, it worked for me.

Looks like a mid-60s Gabe Team across 18" or so open?

There is one mounted and framed in the basement of USASOC HQs.

And the Deputy Ops Chief at USASFC(A) just got one as well.

There used to be a recruiting poster like that one - it was a full A-Team of serious looking guys from the 6th SFGA with weapons, LBJ, and rucks.

I had one on my wall locker in the 7th SFGA barracks when I was a young 91B4S barracks rat on 714.

How we used to refer to LBE - Load Bearing Junk...among the other LBJs (Lyndon Baines Johnson and Long Binh Jail).

For years that cartoon, in color and cut from the original Sunday paper, was stuck on my fridge with a magnet. A few years back while I was deployed my wife secretly had it framed. It now rests proudly on my home office wall. If I were home now I would post a picture.

Anyone ever see that Tank McNamara cartoon from around 1975/1976? The view was from over the shoulders of the TV commentators and showed the football field in flames. Explosions everywhere, medevac helos, casualties, etc. The caption was something like "that's the last time we invite the Green Beret marching band to play the halftime show". Wish I'd kept that one.

Divemaster, Yep, remember that one well.

Also remember another poster for SF from around 67 that showed a bunch gear on a poncho liner.
