If they're going to limit themselves that way they might miss some good stuff. I'd bet money that much of the info they need can be provided from internal .gov sources that are dying to unburden themselves from what has been.

No disagreement here. Every four years, the Transition Team is "swamped" with people who want to help (themselves). With about 10k appointed positions available, unless you're already known, you are just a drop in the tsunami of applications.

With GS14-15 salary going from almost $105k to 160k depending on grade and time in service. There is lots of "incentive" to serve.

I try to remember that these are the same people that tried to convince America that a junior Senator with zero experience would be a great President. That a substandard democrat nominee that garnered zero votes would be a great running mate, and an even better President. And that someone in grips of dementia, seriously in need of someone to press charges of elder abuse...is still an effective President. Box said it best, f#%k them all.
