SAFAsia 71-74

MBT-- was there and put up with all the crap: water rationing, Okie riots, Reversion, etc.

Good times anyway.

Remember Sam's Anchor Inn?

Which Company/Battalion, since it changed from Companies to Battalions at that time. I was there from 70 until 73 wiht a side trip to Thailand.

And yes on Sam's, as well as Koza Palace, Gate 2, BC street and Kadena Circle.

How about Tommy's and that group of hangouts at KC?

DAM, now i am feeling old!!!

Magic, I feel for you and you missing 3/7 in the early 80s. Best place with the most fun.

Sorry shouldn't rub it in.

It is ok, brother.

I figure that the Big Man made it happen that way for a reason.

We may well have low-crawled down the same sidewalks.

72-74 or whenever we were asked to leave.

Evenings in the Habu Pit, sometimes vertical

I was there before the ******* nit wit politican gave it back to Japan.I wonder what Lt.Gen. Buckner would think about that move,He and thousands of other soldiers only gave their life to capture the Island from the Japs .Regards,Tom Kelly

Low Crawling

Yep, Plato, we may have low-crawled the same sidewalks.

I was there '71-'74. Good times and otherwise.

I notice from the news that the Okies haven't changed. One of my favorite Okie quotes was "Americans:leave, but don't reduce the number of government jobs.

Any 1st Groupers ?

Believe it or not the HICOM had a good local intel op on the island.

HICOM got word the PX clerks were planning a strike. Very quietly a plan was put together to train GI's as clerks.

Day of the big strike PXs opened on time and things went smooth as silk.
Next day the girls were back at work and nothing else was heard about a future strike.

I worked on the reversion plan for over a year. Our biggest fear was the State Dep't would sell us down the river. IIRC we only lost about 10 acre's of property.
That was the site of the first elementry school on the island.
