Hello.

Hello, My name is Reece, I've recently (December) signed into the service of the United States Army with an 18x contract. I've just recently been informed of this board of professionals and wish to gather as much knowledge from it as I can.

I look forward to future opportunities to give back what I have learned, like you all have done. I ship to basic in March and look forward to the long and beneficial journey ahead of me.

Take care and God bless.

-Reece

I graduated from Clemson University with a degree in education in history and geography and love to learn because I love to teach.

Thank you for sharing so much valuable information for those unsure about a future in the military.

Thanks,

Only 23 and you're getting married???? (Is it an arranged marriage?)

The horror!

Welcome aboard, good luck......

Hello

Reporting to the Q in April and this site was recommended for G2. Nasty Girl with A Co. 2/19th out of Rhode Island, prior service (Marine Corps, Infantry).

Lot of good info on here, and thanks to TS and The Reaper for keeping it real.
Oh, Love the "Your ruck is in the hallway" section, the Uzi expert and the guy asking why he urinates so much when he drinks water had me rolling. Should give them instructions on how to suck start a pistol, see if they get the hint...

Thanks again,
T.

My name is Chris and I am currently deployed to Iraq. When I get back home my Marine reserve contract is up and I will be doing everything it takes to get an 18x contract on the active side. Thank you for creating a forum so full of useful knowledge.

Hi, I am relatively new to this board however I have been researching the SF career field for a while now. I was a USAF Communications officer for four and am now in Afghanistan as a contractor to Army Material Command. Being over here has made me realize that I want to do more than be “in the rear, with the gear” and having a retired 18C/Z for a partner only adds fuel to the fire. I plan to continue reading and hope to gather as much info as I can about my options/eligibility for joining the Washington NG when I return home.

Thanks for all the effort that goes into maintaining a site like this.

Intro

I'm a brand new 18C and just got to 10th Group 3rd Bn in Dec 2007. I came in under the X-ray program with no prior service.

I've been reading the forums since I found out about this site while I was in the Charlie course. This has been and excellent resource and I look forward to learning as much as possible from everyone involved. Once I get some experience under my belt I will gladly share what I've learned with others.

Thanks to all contributing to and maintaining this site.

Andy

Hello all,

I have been reading for some time, using the search button to find the answers I need. This has been a great resource for me and I just wanted to thank everyone here for contributing.

As it stands now, I am a 19D in an infantry brigade headquarters company. I am slotted as a driver. I am also a college student, about 30 hours shy of my degree. For years I have been mulling this over and I have finally decided to be honest with myself, take the step towards the thing I want more than all else.

I am here because I have become disenchanted with civilian life, feeling like I am not doing all I can to change the world, to rid it of evil. My time in the military has been a disappointment since I left OSUT. When I arrived at my unit, I came to the realization that I was no longer in the army I had signed up for. From watching half of the senior NCOs failing the APFT, to getting gruff from a Cadet because he was being paid as an E-5, I no longer felt like I was a soldier in a military unit, but a soldier "playing army" with people who forgot what it meant to be a soldier.

As it stands now, on Monday I am dropping off my 368, and god willing I will be enlisting in the active army, into the 18X program.

I understand that this isn't going to be like some Rambo movie, where I gut my enemy with a machete, or take him down with homemade bow and arrow. I know there is now glamor in being a Special Forces soldier. I know its going suck. I am going to be wet, cold and hungry. I know I am going to ache and hurt, but thats fine, thats the price I am willing to pay, to save those that are oppressed, and are to weak to save themselves. This isn't something I want to do, this is something I have to do.

I'll keep you all posted on the status of my 368, my enlistment, and any training dates I get.

I'd like to thank you all for listening, to thank those that have severed, are serving or plan to take the oath.

I must go now, I have a calling I need to prepare for.

Regards,
SCOUT OUT

Hey everybody!

I am PFC Mollica. 21 Years old stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. I've been in the Army for almost 2 years now. I am a 14J (Air Defense Artillery) assigned to 11th BGDE. Currently I am deployed with my platoon to Afghanistan on Bagram Air Base. Been here for about 11 months of 15 months and can't wait to get back. I plan on going to selection in September and have been thinking about doing this for some time now. Another motivational tool I have is the amount of Special Forces soldiers here right now and I have been taking advantage of that by talking with them about pretty much every part of Special Forces life. Also have been to the Special Forces range out here and have got first hand instruction from an 18E on marksmanship / cqb drills which have been unbelieveable. Special is somethin I have wanted for a very long time and I am glad I will finally have the chance to do it. I know i'm meant for something more than the conventional Army, something bigger, and I strongly believe Special Forces is it. Thats all I have from this end fellas. Will still train / ruck around bagram to better my odds..

PFC Mollica is out.......

My Introduction

My name is Ian. Right now I am deployed and plan to get the ball rolling on an SF career as soon as I can. I am not much for introductions so that is pretty much it. I just want to say that it is a honor to be accepted into this forum and thank you to all that already serve in the Special Operations community.
