The Arikara Narrative of Custer's Campaign and the Battle of the Little Bighorn.

Interviews that were conducted in 1912 of nine Arikawa scouts, 1 Crow scout and a non-Indian government interpreter who journeyed with Custer on his fateful trip to the Little Bighorn.

Wife and I were recently out in North Dakota and spent some time visiting some very historical places. This in turn gave me the impetus to learn more about the local history.

Remote Sensing of Global Croplands for Food Security (2009)

Interesting look at how sensors developed for military/intelligence are used for... Hmmm...

Food Security - what a boring topic!

Over the summer, I've been listening to quite a few aBooks during hikes and such. In the SOF Porn category, I got the first eleven Richard Marcinko Rogue Warrior books listened to. In the paranoid category, I finished listening to Glenn Becks' The Eye of Moloch which is interesting but predictable - and scarily, all too likely to occur.

Started the first of S.B. Neumans books, The Night Eagles Soared and Invisible Armies by Max Boot. So far, Invisible Armies looks like a most recommended for all practitioners of UW.

Started listening to Dan Browns' fourth Robert Langdon book, Inferno. There are great authors who crank out one or two thrillers every year that have a great story and great writing - but they are not master's of the craft like Dan Brown. Read or listen to the Prologue and you'll see what I mean.

I'm taking a year long gig in Lebanon in a month so I've added the following to my professional reading list:

Thomas Freidman: From Beirut to Jerusalem
Sandra Mackey: Mirror of the Arab World: Lebanon in Conflict

"An Army At Dawn" by Rick Atkinson....excellent read, technical but personal at the same time.
Historically validated.
The war (WW2) in North Africa and the making of the American combat soldier from the naïve pre war days, the totally unprepared US Military thru our first combat.
It is the first book of a trilogy that culminates in VE day basically marking the infancy thru maturity of our combat power.

Personal Systems Reference Lenovo ThinkPad Notebooks, September 2013 - Version 442.

This version totally sucks: they cut out the parts with the 3.5" floppy disk drives. WTF.

Emory M. Thomas, The Confederacy as a Revolutionary Experience (1970). Extraordinarily well written, but long in the tooth IRT the synthesis of secondary works.

Thumbs up An excellent book: Infiltration

Infiltration: How Muslim Spies and Subversives have Penetrated Washington
by Paul Sperry (2005)

This is an excellent book for anyone who wants to see just how deep the rabbit-hole goes; and this was published in 2005! We can only imagine how much worse it has gotten since then.

The most sinister terrorists won't be sneaking through our borders from the Middle East.

They're already here.

This is the untold story about the silent, yet extremely dangerous threat from the Muslim establishment in America―an alarming exposé of how Muslims have for years been secretly infiltrating American society, government, and culture, pretending to be peace-loving and patriotic, while supporting violent jihad and working to turn America into an Islamic state.

In this powder keg of a book, you'll learn:

How radical Muslims have penetrated the U.S. military, the FBI, the Homeland Security Department, and even the White House―where subversive Muslims and Arabs have received top-secret clearance.

How Sephardic Jews and Arab Christians were passed over by the FBI (under Robert Mueller) to hire Arab Muslims for the FBI's linguist section, in many cases before the FBI's background checks were even complete; and even when numerous "red flags" were noticed by investigative agents. Worse yet, Robert Mueller sent out entreaties for linguists among the very worst of the Muslim organizations: the AMC (American Muslim Council) and CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations), just to name two.

Requests by actual agents to be allowed to conduct the interviews with prospective new employees, when the agents became very aware of the dangers of hiring (closet) Islamic fanatics and giving them top-secret clearances, was met with silence from the FBI hierarchy. Some of these people posed a real counter-terrorism threat. (A number of those resulted in actual, provable espionage cases, never revealed to the American public.) Some of those that were found were merely quietly told to resign. No investigations were ever done, let alone information released to the general public.

Other Arab Muslim employees who have created problems, failed to translate required documents (passing them along to investigating agents with the notation: "Not pertinent"), or even Arab language desk supervisors encouraging their employees to let the document translation backlog get even worse to force more money from Congress to be spent on their section, are still there collecting fat paychecks and all the perks that the FBI offers (except for being able to carry a gun - I guess we can be happy with small miracles). Some who have threatened to sue the FBI for alleged "discrimination" have actually received pay raises and promotions!

Chapters 17, 18 & 19 are truly eye-opening - and infuriating - revelations that the American public never hears about; such as Arab Muslims in the Linguistics/Translation department actually cheering when the U.S. was hit on 9/11/2001. How Islamists within the FBI have threatened the FBI with "anti-discrimination" lawsuits only to have the FBI cave in to their demands and intimidation for fear of being labeled as "racist". (What "race" is Islam again? I keep forgetting. ) "Political correctness" has literally crippled the nation's leading investigative agency and no one but a handful of FBI investigative agents and a few Senators on the hill knows anything about it. The American public certainly is not being told any of this information.

How they've infiltrated the chaplains program in the federal and state prison systems―a top recruiting ground for al-Qaida and the Muslim Brotherhood.

How they've successfully run influence operations against our political system with the help of both Democrats and Republicans, badgering corporate boards into Islamizing the workplace.

How we've been utterly duped about what the Quran does and doesn't teach. Sadly, much of anti-Western terrorism is simply Islam in practice, the text of the Quran in action. But this is something you will not hear from most of the American media, and from perhaps 99% of the talking heads in academia (John Esposito at Georgetown University is an excellent example of a Saudi-financed Islamic apologist) - the very ones looked to by many in government to provide honest assessments of the Islamic threat. (One only has to look at the list I posted above in my review of the book, Future Jihad by Walid Phares to get an idea of the profusion of Islamic apologists in academia to turn one's stomach.)

In a time when religious and political leaders are scrambling to smooth over differences in faith and beliefs, this book gives the terrifying truth about the very real, very deadly agenda of Islam and how it has already infiltrated key American institutions with agents, spies, and subversives. An excellent, eye-opening, and at times, infuriating read.

Please do give serious thought to the advantages of using the search button.

That way you could use the works you're reading to develop additional points for consideration in the ongoing debates about America and Islam rather than just repeating over and again comments that were made years ago.

Also, if you're going to accuse eggheads of this or of that, you might benefit from going from a pedestrian guilt by association approach to one that demonstrates a best effort engagement with their works.

@ Sigaba:

This thread is called "What are you reading now?" Well, "Infiltration" is what I am reading - now. And I give a somewhat brief review of the book.

Secondly, as to guilt by association, if the shoe fits...

As I recall, I gave a rather comprehensive list in my review of another book, Future Jihad, by Walid Phares. In order to give anyone who might wish to read that book some indication of what honest educators of Islam are up against in the face the overwhelming influence - and lies - of those dishonest educators of Islam who seek to inculcate untruth in students' minds, I have listed some of those dishonest educators to give some picture of the clear and present danger and the uphill battle to get the truth out.

The very fact that we do not have an intelligent, and effective means to fight the so-called "War on Terror" is precisely because those who depend upon honest and factual information are not getting it; and that those tasked to fight said "war" on the intelligence and investigative front have been prevented from being taught or even looking into the history and ideology of the enemy, let alone being able to name that enemy. That's a recipe for disaster in any war; but especially in this war, where the enemy does not play by the Queensbury rules, and they are playing for keeps.

(As for "a best effort engagement with their works"... I've seen plenty. My stomach is not strong enough to handle them as a steady diet.)

For that matter, you might want to read United in Hate: The Left's Romance with Tyranny and Terror by Jamie Glazov (Mar 3, 2009)

Jamie Glazov's parents came from the old Soviet Union, and were outspoken critics of the USSR's totalitarian policies. Jamie Glazov knows all too well the dangers faced by the United States with the unholy - and seemingly illogical - "marriage" of Islamists and the Left, not just in the U.S., but the rest of the civilized world as well.

And here's another: Treason: Liberal Treachery from the Cold War to the War on Terrorism by Ann Coulter (Oct 5, 2004). I'm sure that Ann Coulter needs no introduction from me.

If you don't like my reviews of the books I have read that are extremely relevant to current events, oh well... I love this country - and I play to win as well.

$.01. Your change.

I just finished Into The Fire by Dakota Meyer (MOH) and Bing West. It is an excellent, and very quick, read. He is quite open. Bing West wrote a book I treasure, Small Unit Action in VietNam.

I just started Black Ops VietNam; The Operational History of MACVSOG by Robert M. Gillespie. Will report later. Out.
