Hello All, while in the basement of the McClure building a friend recommended this site. And since it is rude to be a total parasite I figured I’d log in and introduce myself… After shipping over from the Marines I attended SFAS and was selected to be a medic in May ’94. I attended the last 300F1 class in Ft. Sam and ‘med lab’ at Ft. Bragg before becoming the team medic on ODAs 041, 044, and 794 and finally the Team Sergeant of 797 in ’05. I look forward a good exchange of information, but don’t be surprised if I am not the most punctual at replying, it all depends on my internet connection and time management. But I do look forward to the opportunity for a good exchange of information...

Hello all,

I am currently a Reserve O1 (25A) trying to get into Civil Affairs. I was not prior enlisted. I've been lurking here for a long while (years) without the need to register. Recently I needed to PM someone, so I finally registered. My civilian background is in software in the Defense Industry. I get to make things that fly figure out how to make things that don't fly go boom.

This may well be my only post. So I will take the opportunity to say thank you all for this resource.

Introduction

Good afternoon everyone,

My apologies for not having done this sooner. I am a former Marine 0351 with L Co. 3/5 from 2002-2006. I decided after 3 tours that I should give college a try. So, I traded in being a "Hollywood Marine" to becoming just another SOCAL beach bum. Well to keep it simple I realized not everyone is meant to wear a suit and tie and do the 9-5, some of us are meant to play in the mud. I plan on talking to a recruiter to go 18X after the semester is up.

Thank You for all the information.

"Hollywood Marine" when said by others just shows a twinge of jealousy

...proceeding to run for cover from expected incoming

Greetings Gents, My name is George, nick-name is Grog. I entered AD US Army in 1985, right out of high school. I served 5 years, and ETSd after my father fell off a couple sections of scaffold and royally messed his back up. Military pay wouldn't support the family, so that decision was made for me. I entered the PA State police academy in 1990 and have been serving the Commonwealth ever since. I entered the criminal investigation section over a year ago, and am looking forward to retiring in 7 months. I enjoy exchanging information, and am currently studying terrorism and related subjects, which will give me something to occupy myself in my latter years. I have been a member of socnet for a while now and a friend there pointed me in this direction. I'm looking forward to renewing some old friendships, and making some new ones here. Seems like a nice place to pass some time, and share experience. As a side "job/hobby" I've been developing new 40mm munitions, working with ALS Technologies on newly developed flash/bang type and other rounds. I own an M-203 and am presently working on restoring a Springfield Armory M-79. I am very pro-constitution, as I believe every LEO should be. Proud to be here!

Back on Track

Hello, Gentlemen.

After a somewhat long hiatus I am back on track. I took a little over a year off from active duty, having worked for the SWC and the 18x program establishing the original medical and processing facility (aid station) back in 2002-2005. I was in the pipeline originally but an injury and two subsequent hip surgeries put me out of action (from actual training) for quite some time.

During my "time off" I was able to heal, and decided to give it another go around. I'm back on active duty, currently in the sandbox with a medical unit and looking forward to going back to the Special Operations community not long after re-deploying. I miss the men of the Spec Ops community as you have been the truly upright professionals and I prefer to work with no others. Needless to say, this deployment with "mother army" has been a proverbial nightmare.

Those of you who have already 'been there and done that' have my utmost respect and admiration. I look forward to working in your midst once more.

Strength and Honor!

Introducing myself to the forum

Hello all. It's good to be aboard such a fine forum and I have enjoyed reading and catching up on some of my old comrades from the past and present.

I served in 7th SFG(A) from 94 to 04. I feel fortunate to have been a part of not only an outstanding unit such as the 7th (my heart will always be there) but in SF in general. So much tradition and honor and a history that must be carried on. I can say this, every 18 series I had the pleasure of serving with or knowing will remain with me.

Hello

My name is Jim. I am 23 years old and am currently attending a local community college in Phoenix, Arizona. I am an Army brat; my father, mother, and stepfather have all served in the Army and my mother is a Desert Storm veteran while my father recently returned from Afghanistan where he was supporting JTF-82. Over the past few years I have a developed an interest in the elite fighting forces of our nation and I have, more specifically, become quite interested in the Special Forces. My current life goals are to continue my schooling until I receive my degree (I am still debating what my major will be, but I am leaning towards History), run the P.F. Chang's Rock'n'Roll 1/2 Marathon in early January 2008 and continue to develop a healthy and active lifestyle. Thank you for allowing me to be a member. My interests here will be entirely in gathering knowledge of the Special Forces lifestyle; I do not plan on posting much, considering I don't think my knowledge would be of much use to the professionals. Once again, thank you. Not just for allowing me to be a member, but also for your service and sacrifice.
