The Foot-Lock Technique
Received a question about the foot-lock technique for rope climbing mentioned in GET SELECTED.
The purpose is to maximize the use of your larger muscles (legs and abs) to help you climb a rope instead of relying solely on your arms.
Grab the rope with your arms high above your head. Put the rope between your legs. Wrap the rope around one leg through your inner thigh, around the back of your calf and over the top of your instep. Now take your other foot and step down on top of the rope to pinch it.
Relax your feet pinching the rope while lifting your knees high. Allow the rope to slide over your foot. Pinch down again with your feet onto the rope. Now use your legs (quads) to do the majority of the lifting while pulling up with your arms.
When your legs are at full extension, pinch with your feet to hold you in place. Relax. Move your hands high over your head.
Repeat until complete.
Done properly, you can relax whenever you need a rest along the climb.

Aluminum Chlorohydrate
Quick clarification from a question I got on GET SELECTED...
Recommend treating your feet with Arrid XX because of the active ingredient recommended to me by an 18D while I was prepping for SFAS. If you can find another anti-perspirant with aluminum chlorohydrate as the active ingredient...that's the important part.

Just a quick update....
Spoke with Dow at the Warrior Foundation this morning.
We've already raised over $24,000 for the Warrior Foundation.
Thanks to all the people who are investing a GET SELECTED FOR SPECIAL FORCES.
We've surpassed our original goal of funding A scholarship by raising over $20,000.
Our new goal is to raise over $100,000 by Dec 2009.

Hmm... That is pretty interesting. I've never considered using deoderant vs. powder, which can be messy with short lived effects. I am very interested to know more about why and how that works. Please enlighten me and all the soggy foot individuals out there.

Aluminum Chlorohydrate blocks sweat pores thus not allowing sweat to escape them and thereby keeps your feet dry.

Vaseline use on the foot

I have recieved a copy of the text and am very impressed. It was well worth every cent.
I do have a question however. In the text, it was stated that the use of vaseline on the feet is not suggested. I would like to know the reason for this statement? I have run several marathons and have used vaseline on my toes to avoid blisters with much benefit. I understand running is not the same as rucking, however wouldn't one benefit as well?
