Afternoon all,
Have been lurking here for quite some time and finally made up my mind to register. Will continue to lurk, but be able to search and get the links, nothing more.
Long time USAF cop, no spectacular jobs, no SOF, nothing of the sort. Just a regular guy.
Back to lurking

Greetings all;
Navy vet here, Silent Service type. Served on USS Seawolf (SSN-575) and USS Guitarro (SSN-665). Was a nuke.
Son is currently an 18x candidate, just finished Airborne last week. Starts the prep course next week. This site was on favorites list from before he shipped to Fort Benning in Jan. I have been checking it out regularly since he left. Decided to register myself, instead of hanging around under his ID.
I am very proud of his decision, though I still have Navy blue blood! I am trying to learn all I can so I can talk intelligently with him as he progresses.
Will most likely just observe, but at least now if I do post, I can take the heat instead of posting under his login.

And a tip of the hat to submariner who is now posting under his own colors.
A few of us have been underwater also. I went out on the Finback (SSN 670)and Greenling (Green Thing) for short trips. I hate a room with no view.
Pete
Edited to add: Just looked up the boats - Damn - both have been recycled.

Welcome aboard. Seems like our roles are reversed. My son was the nuke and served on SSN-675 Bluefish.

You think that's bad - my one and only opportunity to do a sub-op was on the Trepang in PR. The next time I saw her (pieces of her that is) was in the Smithsonian a couple of years ago. Made me feel old. Did you notice Submariner's profile? Seems he's gone from "rooms without a view" to flying for a hobby. Is there something "Fraudian" going on here? Welcome aboard - Peregrino

"New" guy intoducing himself
Hello,
This is my first post and I will be introducing myself. I was recently selected and assigned orders as a 18E and language training of Spanish "7th Group". I'm prior service Navy, I worked Avionics on EA-6B prowlers for 4 years. I got out the Navy in 2000 with an honorable discharge and went into business for my self with a tobacco cafe, a ligerie store and a part time internet firearms sales. After several years out of the service, I started to miss the sense of purpose and honor thats comes with the military, so I decided to join the Army and try to fullfill my dream of being "SF". I came in as a "X-ray", completed 11B training, Airborne, SOPC and SFAS and I am currently working on the Q-course. I look forward to gaining knowledge from other members and meeting some cool people to share stories and info with.

Hello,
My name is Joe, and right now I'm AD with 1st SQDN 40th CAV (RSTA) (ABN) in Alaska. My current MOS is a 25C *Commo Guy*. I just came from SFAS class 06-06, and got 18E with Arabic. I'm a civilian pilot/ scuba diver, and love doing both of those things.

Welcome to PS.com. Please read all stickies and do things in the right order. SA (situational awareness) and the ability to follow instructions will prove invaluable as you embark on your journey. BTW - I'm not particularly enamored of Fayetteville either but the "Fayettenam" appelation is a little out of date, even for me and I've been here (off and on) since 1978. FWIW - Peregrino
