I'm happy that my physical fitness has improved by a large margin, even looking in the mirror I can see the difference. I recently worked out in some bad weather and felt so awesome with the scenery around me, was like the workout scenes in a Rocky movie. Only two months out until basic and I'm very excited for it.
Good job on the operation Doc.

My youngest son left for Basic on the 10th. He called me this weekend to report he was having a blast. Life is good.

Having a blast? So, exactly how did you raise that boy?
I have a feeling that basic training will not be a big deal for that lad.

Well, retirement begins March 1st. 25 years and a bit. Sitting in living room, wife is off to work, 21 year old is conducting pre-mob with his infantry unit for deployment April, 19 year old at range for her pre-mob in April, 15 year old son off to school, and 4 year old daughter just awoke, (still wanting a back-ride down the stairs to get breakfast).
All good in the world.

I have a patient who is a high-caliber high school baseball player who got hit hard by his recent round of chemo - he can't eat or stand, and hasn't spoken for 2 weeks, but will nod or shake his head to questions. Over the weekend he told his dad he wanted to go home to die.
He and I had a "man to man" talk yesterday - this morning I stopped in to see if he was willing to put in the work to get better. He looked at me on my way in and said, "Good morning doc" - the first words I'd heard out of him since flying him from the outside hospital. He busted his ass with his rehab docs all day so he can get in good enough shape for his bone marrow transplant.
Did the talk help, or did his mind recover enough for him to realize he needs to start working? I don't care - I'm just glad to see him back in the fight.

Made it back
Took the chance and went down the mountain to Helena driving a two wheel drive sedan.
Made it back without sliding off the shelf or having to walk, a t-bone steak in hand, and the fire was still lit.

I hope he wins.
He's in good hands. You must have talked to him like a basketball coach.

The thread title provoked a feeling of contrast...When I was young the thought may have been "the B52's storming down the runway didn't keep me awake last night"....now "another sunrise...woohoo"
