Professional Soldiers:
My name is Dan and I am currently at Fort Drum with 10th Mtn. I am an 11B as my retarded name shows and I just got back in May from doing 16 months in Afghanistan. I am slotted to go the Sept SFAS class. While in Afghanistan I got a copy of Getting Selected for Special Forces after I made my mind up to go for it upon return. I have followed the training program in it as close as possible and feel I am about as ready as I am going to get. Reading the numerous threads on here has been a great help in my prep and I appreciate all the good information.

Dan:
Do your reading between workouts, follow the PT program, and try to run in the sauna or something to simulate MacKall.
High temps here in Aug were record with several consecutive days at 107 actual or above, and only a few where the high was not at least 90.
Welcome all and best of luck.

Hello. I'm a retired USAF Munitions Specialist (Ammo Troop). I have a general interest in military small arms and may time to time pose a question to the experts here, hopefully without sounding too dumb. Never worked with or supported SF but you guys have one of the toughest jobs (if not THE toughest) out there.

Slater;
Never say never. I was with a friend of mine, retired AF Major - Munitions and we were chatting with an ex Army MP. Nice young kid but he really didn't know we were both retired.
Any how, the talk got around to Bosnia/Kosovo stuff and he was there during one of the flare-ups and he said he had some tanks coming at his position and they were trying to get some air support. The Major stopped him and asked if it had been on this date and the MP replied "Yes". The Major replied "It was A-10s that smoked the tanks, right?" "Yes" "Those A-10s were from my unit. We were the ones who uploaded them with their munitions."
The next 10 minutes were right interesting - we got to meet his whole family real quick.
In the circle of life you never know how your actions here impact somebody else over there.
Welcome - and welcome all - to the site

Just stopping in here to do my intro. I did four years in the Marine Corps Infantry, and during my second of three tours to Iraq I operated with an ODA from 5th group and I really liked working with them. I was the breacher on our Battalion Raid Force and the ODA guys gave me a battering ram to help. I couldn't of asked to work with better guys. Once I got out of the Corps I went to school, joined a SAR team and started bartending. Its almost been two years now and I have came to the realization of who I really am and what I want to do in life. So, in March I am heading (planning, haven't signed anything yet) out to your SFAS to see what I can do. I have too friends from my old company who are in the Q course and love it. I ran a marathon in April and I ruck often but I am training harder than ever. Love your guy's advice and I hope to learn a lot from your experience. Thank you for this great service, and have a good day...

Gentlemen,
I’m currently in Germany on active duty for the Army, I started my career out in the Air Force. After freezing my ass off in Colorado, Nebraska, and Wyoming flying around on Hueys and sitting in Humvee’s guarding things that go boom and turn countries into parking lots. I found myself being bored so I decided to pursue a career that would challenge me mentally. After being here for almost a year now and the desire of being elite, the desire of being the best of the best is setting in day after day now. So with that being said here I’m running and rucking starting the quest for my green beanie. I’ve only had little interaction with SF before the barb wire went up around the building and it was a great experience just to joke and talk with you guys.

Welcome to the site, from an AD AMMO troop to a retired. I've been around a little over 10yrs now, we probably know some of the same people. Drop me a PM sometime.
Pete: Just for some clarification, we AMMO troops assemble the bombs and missiles and deliver them to the flightline, it is a different career field that actually loads them onto the airplanes.
