Gentlemen, thank you for allowing me to join your forums. I am performing historical research on the Flint Kaserne and may be asking some of you 10th SFG(A) vets some questions in the future. Hopefully I may be of some assistance as well.

Where's the Beef? Intro

Greetings, My team mates called me "Beef" (as opposed to the more formal "Mr. Jerky"). I served in the Corps, 1974-1978 in infantry Bns. and 2d Recon Bn. I served in C/2/20th SFGA (18B, 18C, 18D or 11B4S, 12B4S, 91B4S) from 1978-1986. Reverted to Jarhead status when I joined 3d Force Recon Co., USMCR in Mobile, Al. 1986-1988. Got commissioned as a 2LT, Army Nurse Corps in 1988 in a CSH, Ms. ARNG, they put me thru Anesthesia School and I retired in 1998. SFA# D-3400-Life (CHAP.79) and FRA#2100. Semper Fi, Beef

Question Some Insight

Hi, my name is Jen, I am a student pilot in California.

I have actually come to your community here for some insight. I have been seeing a guy for a bit who will be trying out for Special Forces.

Due to our relationship being somewhat serious we have spent time discussing what his decision will mean.
His comment was
"Well, you need to look into what it’s like being the woman of a Special Forces Soldier"

Therefore I found out about this site and here I am.

After reading the introductory posts, I will spend quite a lot of time just reading thru stuff here.

I understand that I pretty much have zero to offer, but it is a real privilege to be able to just sit in the same community as 'Been there done that’s' (as my guy says) and just get a feel for what the Special Forces community is like.

As my guy describes what Special Forces soldiers do and have done, it never really occurred to me that there where men in the military that do this kind of stuff. I think it’s amazing that there are still men out there that will dedicate their lives for the cause of "De Oppresso Liber".

In appreciation for your site and your insight

Regards,

Red Fox

Hello all,

My name is Dean (call me Dino/Deano as that is what I am known as to my friends). I am looking for a new direction in life and SF appears to have what I want. I have always been an admirer of SF but for various personal reasons chose not to go down this path earlier. Fortunately I am very fit -- most of the strength and endurance requirements I have already met and currently meet (not bad at age 41). I am basically looking for ways to get into the SF selection process in the least amount of time. Advice from any SF soldier would be greatly appreciated.

I am a college grad with nearly 3 4-year degrees (Biology, Spanish, and PoliSci). I lack a token amount of classes to complete all 3. Also, I have mainly been self-employed during my life except for the last 3 years. I hope this information gives a framework for you to help answer any questions that I have on the forum.

Welcome aboard all.

Dino, you need to fill out your profile.

Frankly, SF team life is a young man's game and you will not have enough years remaining under a ruck by the time you are trained and earn the experience to be a good, contributing team member. We don't really need 43 year-old buck sergeants with no experience.

This has been flogged to death by others like you here. The Search button should direct you to all of those discussions.

IMHO, you have waited too long to act, but thank you for considering serving your country.

To those who are serving or have served, thank you, too.

Um Deeno,

I would suggest filling out a profile. I would not suggest quitting your day job.

This is a young mans sport. I hope you understand that. This site, however, will help you research what you may need to know. Cutting shortcuts will be on you.

My Introduction

Hello Sirs and respectable board users,

My Name is Matt, and I am 20 years old. I have been interested in the military since I was a kid, and for the last 6 years have been looking into Special Forces. I have been attending college in the time after high school in order to satisfy my parents concerns of rushing off into the military (as well as enjoy civilian life a little bit longer). I am currently interning at our local State's Attorney's office, and awaiting my paperwork to be processed by MEPS so that I can sign the 18x contract. It is my intention to sign within the next few days.

At the risk of brown-nosing, I would like to thank the Quiet Professionals for offering this board. It is a valuable source of information both for myself and others. Thank you again.

Respectfully,
Matt

Greetings! My name is Dakotah(SSG). I just finished CLT and am awaiting the next SUT class. Prior to coming here I was in Ft. Campbell, KY for four years. I'm 11b with a training MOS 18D. I'm looking forward to the intense training and continued training that SF has to offer, as well as offering everything that I can to fellow students and one day a team.
