Hey all. I'm fairly new to the military, currently living life as an EOD tech. Headed to Helmand in a few. Should be a blast. Joined up here to get some information about the area and gear tips. Basically, seems like a good place to harvest knowledge.

Hopefully not.

Welcome all!

Hello,

I'm currently in the process of re-enlisting in the Army. I was in the Marine Corps infantry where I fought in the Battle of Garmsir (Operation Azada Wosa) and the Battle for Marjah (Operation Moshtarak). After I got out I began working as a private military contractor. I loved my work but realized I did not accomplish all I wanted to accomplish in the military, deciding it was the right thing to do to go back in and try to achieve the goals I may have skipped or missed in my first enlistment.
I am very excited about joining the Army. It is tough going at the moment as a prior-enlisted man joining the Army, but I should be heading to MEPS in the next week or two.
My brother is helping me out as well, as he is a former 18X and currently an 18D in 3rd Group. Feel free to PM me if you would like this (or myself) vetted and I would be happy to accommodate (with his permission of course).

Gentlemen-

Thank you for allowing me onboard.

Utter lack of SA here- I posted prior to putting up my intro. I have removed my head from my 4th point of contact at this time.

I'm a semi-retired PMC with a SWAT/K9 background. I've been to Iraq and Haiti doing PSD and static and found my way over here because I have the honor of being included in the Giduck lawsuit. Like him I BOLO'd basic training (prior surgery on a knee that I didn't disclose and blew out during Clinton's RIF years) but I'm not ashamed of it. Not ashamed but pissed- I busted my ass to get a Ranger contract!

Thanks again for having me on.

Intro

I have been quietly perusing this site on and off for a bit, and am following instructions with this intro post, so I can post elsewhere and obtain some information.

I am 24 and the more I am learning about life, the more I am realizing I don't know spit. That being said I am preparing for military service in a foreign country that is a stalwart ally of this great country.

In the country I will be going to, I am considered somewhat of an old man, and I have to find out if they will let me serve. I am operating with the hope that they will in fact let me serve. Any capacity I am allowed to fill, I will to the absolute best I can ie. If am only cleared to be a truck driver I will be the best truck driver they have ever seen. But I am aiming for a more challenging "MOS" within that army.

I have been running every day averaging 4-5 miles with a decent pace, body weight exercises to failure, and the occasional run with weights.

I would looking for any and all advice QPs would be willing to offer, that I could not find myself utilizing the search function.

Thank you in advance, and if I inadvertently missed a sticky or protocol I will address it.

Re-introduction

Posting here by request, as my old introduction from the 'Introductions IV' thread has gone missing.

My name is Matt Rogers, and I'm a civilian research scientist at Colorado State University. My research background is in satellite remote sensing of cloud properties for various uses, and I have some background with the CloudSat and OCO missions. I now work at a NOAA Cooperative Institute splitting time between satellite-derived cloud location forecasting for use in the solar industry and education and outreach tasks.

I enjoy target and sport shooting, hunting, rock climbing, biking, and cooking - since joining the site, I purchased an Orion cooker based on stellar reviews in the 'Gourmet Guerilla' section - and first heard of the forum by searching for information on the 'Kill Bin Laden' book.

I can be contacted by the email in my profile, and want to thank the QPs for making this forum open to the public and for sharing their hard-earned knowledge with us.

Greetings Quiet Professionals, and members. I'm a 24 year old active duty soldier with 2 deployments to Afghanistan. Looking to get out of the active duty to go National Guard with an 18x contract. Right now currently I'm down range and doing my best to train up with my current circumstances. I'm loving this site and being a sponge and learning everything I can.

Being a Green Beret is something Ive Always dreamed of. In this Regular Army I stand apart from most of my counterparts because they all seem to want to only "make standard". My self on the other hand, I want to excell and work with the absolute best the Army has to offer and be able to serve my country better than my current MOS.

Back in the saddle

Hi everyone, been a member for years and never took the time to post my intro thread. Served as an 18E on active duty with HHC and C company 3rd Bn 7th SFGA in Panama. Loved that place. Did a tour with USMILGP El Salvador, love that place too. Got out to go to college and joined the 12th SFGA. Went to OCS (Mistake, should have went 180A) and served in the California National Guard. Deployed to the LA Riots and Northridge earthquake. Missed SF and went back in to the 19th SFGA C Company when they were in Murray Utah. Played round after that and went into the IMA. Best kept secret.

Got pissed off with an 18th Airborne Corps O-6 and lost that battle, so I retired with 24 years as a Captain. Now I was recruited from the retired reserves and I am a Functional Area 30A Information Operations Officer. Just got back in and I just turned 50 so I am a little long in the tooth to be humping a ruck, but I still miss it. Been a Los Angeles Police Officer for 18 years. I am a Sergeant and love the job too. Keep up the good work. Joe Vigueras

Hi all,
My name is Mitch. I am an 18Z currently working at the Special Warfare Medical Group. I spent all my time as an 18D in 1st Group. I get a lot of questions about the new SOCM/ SFMS courses, so I figured I would join this forum and hopefully get the word out to folks what we are doin over here.

Cheers,
