Got the book a couple days ago and it's a great resource. Haven't finished it, but just skimming through the chapters and I've found great information already!

Just ordered one. I find it absolutely amazing though that the picture on the cover is a friend of mine who is now a 1SG at Ft. Drum, and the pic is of him in Bagram when he was a SFC with 2-87 IN, 10th MTN. He is a 2-75 vet, and wears their combat scroll, but he has never been SF. His pic gets pretty wide circulation though. Amazing!

Right on. It's tough to find great shots of SF guys in action that have been released to the public. When we were designing the cover, I personally went though EVERY photo that the Army had released publicly on their web site (there were over 1,700 photos if I remember correctly).
He looks like somebody who'd have no problem with Selection. Rangers historically have the highest success at SFAS.
I give credit on the Copyright Page to him as a NCO from 10th Mtn.
Didn't know his name, but the shot was too good to pass up.
If you PM me with his name and address, I'll get him a copy in the mail.
Thanks,
JM

Just got done reading it.
There's so much I liked about this book.
It covers the usual recommended workouts and training to prepare; has a great 30 day workout plan as well.
Also, I liked the in-depth advice on taking care of your feet and boots and gear, as well as how to take care of your most important piece of gear - your mind.
This is information I've found somewhat lacking and the author really lays out some good advice on how to prepare your mind for SFAS and avoid the main reason candidates fail.
The recommended reading/listening/viewing list is not to be missed as well.

I lied.
We didn't sell out.
We did, however, sell over 30 books during the book signing at Ft Lewis Clothing Sales.
Not a bad day, especially considering the Clothing Sales Manager said they were having a slow day.
Thanks to all who were able to make it out today.

Sir, I bought and have read your book. It is awesome! I am 41, a support troop (MI) and will not be attending Special Forces assessment. I do appreciate your knowledge and information. The information in the book, however, is better than any else I have seen as regards Special Forces. Young men, both active duty and those that aspire to be SF will definitely benefit from the book. If they read and follow the recomendations you wrote, they'll have a greater chance of succeeding. The parts about mental toughness are the best.

I bought the book at the clothing and sales, and have been reading it daily. I'm recommending it to everybody in the pre-ranger course down here. I've found it pretty useful so far. Thank you for writing this , Sir.

Thanks for the feedback and the help getting the word out.
JM
P.S. Thanks to you and the others here at PS.com, we've already raised over $4,600 for the Warrior Foundation. Appreciate the support.

Great feed back on GET SELECTED continues to roll in.
After the author gave me his permission, I wanted to share this with you...
Quote:
In a message dated 7/15/2005 3:05:33 P.M. US Mountain Standard Time:
Major Joe Martin,
Sir my name is CH (CPT) Primo Davis and I am the battalion chaplain for 1st 502nd Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne (Air Assault). Ranger school is hopefully in the near future for me and for sometime now I have been considering the opportunity of being a chaplain in the special operations community. It was for this reason that I purchased "Get Selected for Special Forces".
Although the assignment of chaplains to Special Forces units is much different than the average officer, I know that should I be assigned to the special operations community the more knowledge I have, and the more I personally embrace the Special Forces mentality, the better I will be able to serve Special Forces soldiers and their family members as a chaplain.
I read the book in two days, and it only took me that long because it wasn't a weekend. The book is GREAT! I believe the principles you deal with in the book will not only make a soldier "get selected", but when applied in all areas of life will make a man an even greater man than he already is.
The real reason I wanted to drop you a little note was because as a chaplain, I find the book filled with elements of faith and the teachings of the bible. I'm not sure of your exact faith journey, but that fact that you know the Lord is evident in every page of the book. The principles of team work, determination, love for your brother, health, temperance, positive mental attitude etc. are all teachings found throughout the Bible. (As you probably well know) Reading the book not only motivated me as a soldier, but as a chaplain and preacher as well.
I thought you should know, from the unique Infantry Chaplains perspective: TWO THUMBS UP! I will promote this book as much as I can, not only for the valuable content, but for the much worthy cause which it supports. Look for an order with my name on it from my chapel here at Ft. Campbell, so I can get this book in the hands of my guys who need it.
May God continue to bless you as you do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
Very Respectfully and...
In Continued Service to God & Country,
CH (CPT) Primitivo Davis

ONLY 5 BOOKS LEFT...
Only 5 copies of GET SELECTED to go.
It's true.
I just got off the phone with the Warrior Foundation.
Dow said we've already sold 245 books... so they only have 5 books left until we have successfully raised over $5,000 for the foundation.
If you hurry, you can be the one to put us over the 25% mark towards our short term goal of funding a scholarship by raising over $20,000 for the foundation.
Any takers?
