IIRC, Mr. Clancy smoked like a chimney. If smoking was a factor, he wouldn't be the first person to insist that his cause of death not be released after his passing.

Also, given that Mr. Clancy's net worth was well north of a quarter of a billion dollars, it may well come to pass that his heirs have reasons to keep the cause of death under wraps.

But I think the difference is that people thought the government was professional enough not to do certain things like this and it turns out they are more blatantly corrupt than people thought. People knew the politicians were corrupt, but thought the bureaucracy itself was more trustworthy.

But for a politician such as a president to be able to pull off something like having two people murdered and keep that under wraps would be virtually impossible I would think.
