School is over and I'm ready to do some shooting! I'd rather we wait until the local temps drop below 125 degrees......
Or not, let me know when.

I met such a person recently. He teaches exclusively with one of the "contractor" business out there that is replete with our guys. He was not US military during his time in service, however. That's all I'll say on that.
However, from having trained with him recently (and that training included the use of very realistic "training aids"), I would not use a knife like that for "taking out a sentry", if such a thing were to occur. First of all, it is most likely that if one were to ever use it for combat, it would be because something else failed, so this becomes the next option; not because one is going to sneak up on someone. That being said, those little spines will get caught on something when you least want it to. We tried this during our training with a similar knife, and, sure enough, it got stuck inside the "training aid". As a survival/field knife, maybe the spines would be of use. But, that's another debate. Anyway, that's my opinion.
And, yes, it looks like a Yarborough ripoff.

Basen, could have told you that would happen, actually did earlier, already had the experience.

Mike.. Apparently you didn’t realize Quiet Professional refers to the fact that we are only professional when we are quiet... I mean you bring us a 750.00 knife (*which in itself would incite violence), it's happens to look like it is a Yarborough knock-off *, the guys says it's being "reviewed by Special Forces without substantiating *, and then you ask us our .02 and we are all guys that like to give you a whole dollar and tell you to keep the change!! So I am not exactly sure what you expected.. I think overall, given the subject matter everyone behaved..

Besides, nobody who got a "Go" at the Apache Underwater Knifefighting Course is gonna violate OPSEC re: the Sentry Removal Techniques Class on an open forum.

The responses were pretty much exactly what I expected. I knew my opinion, but thought I would share with the group to get expert opinions (And a few laughs). Sorry, but I just couldn't resist . Everyone has behaved perfect in my opinion. I have enjoyed all the responses and hope they continue . One thing though.... you can clearly see a picture of "The Duke" donning the beret framed in his personal Dojo (Right above his washer and dryer in his videos) so he must be legit right
***Side note, this maker also offers personal CQB lessons to anyone who buys a knife ( Just in case anyone needed to brush up on sentry removal techniques with a true "Purpose built man fighting weapon" lol)***
TS, I can wait for the temperatures to go down a bit, or we could try an indoor range (Not affiliated with a certain little man at SGC).

I did ask Mr. Harsey's opinion first, but realized I was asking him to critique a fellow knife maker new to the industry (I apologize for that).
I'm only asking now as I know many QP's live in the PHX area, and might have some insight. It's advertised as (Copied from website):
"The Jungle Fighter was designed and adapted SF troops in the American military as a purpose built man fighting weapon."
Any input appreciated.

Back to the question at hand,
" The Jungle Fighter was designed and adapted SF troops in the American military as a purpose built man fighting weapon."
The above sentence makes no sense to me. Funny how the knife looks very familiar........ knowing quite a few "knife makers" I've never heard of this guy.

PS I did know a couple of people who used an E-tool to get the job done though.
I've always felt that if you have to pull out a knife to fight you've done SOMETHING wrong.
|
I used to carry a Fairbairn for sticking people, a Randall #14 for heavy field work and a demo knife.
I never stuck anybody but myself with the Fairbairn (opening mail).
The Randall was a good hacker and would open c-rats in case of no P38.
The demo knife probably got the most work.
What I'd like to see is a Fairbairn-Sykes style blade with saw teeth, a gut hook, hollow survival handle, laser pointer, magnifying glass and pliers made out of a special space age aluminum/platinum, kevlar alloy.
