If you do an internet search on bill hillar and william g hiller you will find that his daughter being kidnapped also seems to be a big lie.
I have emails from quite a few in Special Forces and SF Command concerning "COL william g hillar". Even funnier no one has ever heard of this "Special Forces COL". Guess old bill doesn't know how small Special Forces really is..... and we're only about what, 56 years old? Some of those on the email list that circulated made comments like "I've been in SF for thirty years and am working at USASOC or SF Command for the last ten years and I've never heard of a COL bill hillar."
bill picked the wrong title and unit to mess with, now it's our turn.
Team Sergeant
All, feel free to copy and email those documents to anyone you want.... I have copies of the orginals.

This whole, "I'm the inspiration for Taken" cracks me up. I''m shocked that no one from Hollywood has heard wind of his tale. The MPAA is deadly serious about enforcing their intellectual property. Claiming to be the inspiration behind an original work isn't a nice thing to do and might irritate the guy who actually conceived and wrote the story. A letter to the production company and screenwriter for Taken could be fun.
He noodled this one enough to know that he'd need to kill off the daughter in his version so no one would actually want to see her or anything. It would have been a heck of a lot more heroic if he'd saved her but I guess he couldn't delude himself into having a teenager.
On another note - even if this particular story were true - teenage daughter going to Southeast Asia to backpack unsupervised by any responsible or savvy adult? I gotta say, extremely questionable parenting there. I can't believe anyone would listen to his advice about security/leadership/etc after letting that go down.

The Monterey Institute of International Studies is right down the street. I will pass this around the office and see if anyone feels like taking a walk.

COL William Hillar is a FRAUD
On the bright side of things, when you google "COL William G. Hillar" (FRAUD)
the phrase "COL William G Hillar FRAUD" turns up on the first page instead of the 5th, as it used to.
I think it's based on the number of times the search engine sees :
COL William Hillar FRAUD
COL William Hillar FRAUD
COL William Hillar FRAUD
It's worth the effort

You scored 100%...of course we would have also taken:
COL Hillar the cheat,
COL Hillar the con artist,
COL Hillar the deceiver,
the deluder, dissimulator, equivocator, fabler, fabricator, fabulist, fibber, maligner, misleader, perjurer, storyteller,
and in a nod to Lord of the Rings...COL Hillar the trickster.

And, if anyone is around the University of Oregon in the next few days, the "COL" is giving a presentation, and the US District Attorney is having an exhibit in the same conference. Could make for one h*ll of a lunch

I can only imagine the reaction of the women who have spoken with him about their personal experiences with human trafficking.
On another note, is it possible for us to get stronger Smiles than "mad"? Sometimes, I just don't think it does a post justice.

Looks like my Saturday is planned now. I'm sure I can round up a few fellow veterans that would be more than willing to help call him out in a public forum.

Bill Hillar Special Forces Fraud
Hey Bill hillar, I'm sure by now you're reading this thread.....
I just got a phone call from an FBI agent and he's contacted some agents out west where you give talks........
I told him we could clear this whole mess up by you showing the FBI your Special Forces diploma, you know the one you received when you finished the Special Forces Qualification Course and of course they should have a look at your DD-214.
With all those "tactical-counterterrorism" missions you went on I'm betting you have a chest full of medals.
Bill hillar, listen for the knock.......
