I think a team with Kataluna Enriquez, Fallon Fox, CeCé Telfer, Laurel Hubbard, and Rachel McKinnon would be unbeatable.

Don't forget the context of that movie - the only decent guy in the senate was a bumbling idiot that only escaped total ruination through pure luck
That wasn't his only role as a senator - in the other, he had no problem building his empire on the myth of him shooting Liberty Valance.
Even as the good guy, the senator relied on dishonesty and deceit to gain and retain his political power - and in the case of who did or didn't shoot Liberty Valance the media was willingly complicit in keeping the lie alive...

Box,
I have been an aficionado of your posts from the beginning of my time here.
You have outdone yourself with this post! I suggest Joker archive this post to bring it out on each anniversary for "Box day" celebrations!

D's and R's...The Difference:
I do NOT see a difference in the old congressional members of congress. The newer members especially D's are more openly radical but like their older associates are LIARS, The spineless R's are equally corrupt...They are natural liars, They LIE even when there is no advantage to LYING...The top of the list of least respected people are (IMHO) career politicians, who go directly from law School into Political Office and stay there for decades and do nothing for the voters and enrich themselves and family by lying, stealing, cheating, & gaming the system for ever. A few politicians claim to be Independent, eg. Bernie Sanders but that does not make a difference, They are all the same corrupt liars protecting each other until it's back stabbing save yourself time. Turn on the one who seems weak.

The original idea for the legislature agrees with your point Badger.
Quote:
... But as the colony increases, the public concerns will increase likewise, and the distance at which the members may be separated, will render it too inconvenient for all of them to meet on every occasion as at first, when their number was small, their habitations near, and the public concerns few and trifling.
This will point out the convenience of their consenting to leave the legislative part to be managed by a select number chosen from the whole body, who are supposed to have the same concerns at stake which those have who appointed them, and who will act in the same manner as the whole body would act were they present.
If the colony continue increasing, it will become necessary to augment the number of the representatives, and that the interest of every part of the colony may be attended to, it will be found best to divide the whole into convenient parts, each part sending its proper number; and that the elected might never form to themselves an interest separate from the electors, prudence will point out the propriety of having elections often; because as the elected might by that means return and mix again with the general body of the electors in a few months, their fidelity to the public will be secured by the prudent reflection of not making a rod for themselves. And as this frequent interchange will establish a common interest with every part of the community, they will mutually and naturally support each other, and on this (not on the unmeaning name of king) depends the strength of government, and the happiness of the governed.

I've been privately badgering Box for a while about writing a book. It's freaking easy!! Hell, I did it; he's actually got talent though.
It'd be a best seller!! Go look up a female writer who wrote: "People I'd like to punch in the face." She's a female version of Box. Funny as hell.
Box'd kill it.

You're too modest, 'cause my bookshelf says otherwise, and God don't make me buy no junk.
Harrumph!
But it's a great idea. The Box Set.

Well now! Someone get that man* a publisher! We have titles for the series now:
THE BOOK OF BOX
THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX, BY BOX
THE BEST OF BOX (The Coffee Table Edition)
I agree with the above posts, you do have talent sir!
* in order to maintain my wokeness and avoid a ticket to the re-education camps I assume Box's gender as male in this statement only from previous post in which it was garnered that he has retired from a career as a QP and in that time period in order to achieve retirement status there were not female genders, or any of the other gazillion genders allowed in that branch.
If in fact Box now identifies as another gender then I do wholly apologize in advance for my mistake.

I have not "retired" - I have transitioned out of the military.
Transitioned - remember that word, I'm going to "circle back" to it.
Late in my career the alphabet of genders (yes, there are now more genders than there are letters in the alphabet - Google it and see for yourself) had broken through the glass ceiling but many of the toxic, cis-gendered white privileged, misogynistic, nationalistic, wrong thinking people that I worked with frowned upon free thinking so I cowered in fear - knowing if I ever revealed my true self there would be hell to pay. The people I worked with are still clinging to their guns and their religion and their antipathy towards others that don't look like them. Some of them even CONTINUE to follow professional sportsball.
When I transitioned - it wasn't just from active duty to "private" contractor. I transitioned from "male" to what I like to refer to as "Box"
There are no acceptable pronouns that can properly encompass the essence of my gender but you can use the following guidelines without offending me...
-My first person pronouns are me-my-MINE.
-My second person pronouns are you-your-yours.
-There cannot be a third person pronoun since there is only one of me but if there were two of us, we would be referred to as "Boxen"
That right - Box is now a gender - my transition is complete. In your faces. Suck it.
I'm Box and I'm PROUD
...and your apology is accepted.
