Uh-oh. This is how WWI started.

The shooter was a 22-year-old "special operations" police officer. He was killed, eventually, by Turkish security forces. A photo can be found on line of his body surrounded by a lot of bullet holes. Also looks like his magazine took a hit since the spring is hanging out the bottom.

Not sure if he was on the detail, if there even was one. But he was the only dude behind the ambassador, from what I've seen. BBC has confirmed his identity-name, age, police status.
