It is dirt cheap now of days to set up a basic camera system. Wireless ones are easy.........

This is so true, you are faced with problems that are not your making. If they are serious about what is going on they can invest in security. Pin hole cameras can be placed at night or other times when employees are not aware and you can catch the people involved...then what? Cameras or fake cameras can be placed so everyone is aware that cameras are in place but you will need to secure or conceal the observation end of that system. Security can be hired and placed for protection of guests and employees but that has it's limits. What I read is that you are concerned for your safety, if they are not willing to invest in security perhaps it might be best to move on? Either way you need to take charge of your own security, you did the right thing in returning home carefully and being aware of your surroundings. Varying your patterns and situation awareness is important, plan ahead and have contingencies in place so you can respond to events as they take place or prevent them from occurring. Have numbers of friends or police that you can contact immediately, travel opposite or different directions both going and returning from work , use public areas that are active to fall back on, make authorities aware of the situations, put yourself into the opposite perspective and be creative to understand things you may need to counter, have a communication and reaction plan in place so you will not have to create a plan when you are going home and tired ( SOP's Standard Operating Procedures and practice them) Train on different possibilities so you will have tools in your box to use if needed use cameras and be covert. Some say " 90% of the things we worry about never happen". but it is better to be prepared and save than sorry...
