I belive modern christianity to be a general force for good in the world.

Modern Christianity had best be careful. I think the US Navy is the current "global force for good"!:D

Our Christian God built this Country, and he will let it disintegrate as soon as enough people show Him disrespect.
That's one prediction you can take to the bank, ZD.

I thought He was already doing that? Didn't you?
Oh, and I don't 'bank' - I use a local credit union.

I can't take credit for this particular example.

Imagine that.....

Official statement from the U.S. Army on October 15, 2013
The slide was not produced by the Army and it does not reflect our policy or
doctrine.
It was produced by a soldier conducting a briefing which included info
acquired from an internet search. Info was not pulled from official Army
sources, nor was it approved by senior Army leaders, senior equal opportunity
counselors or judge-advocate personnel.
The Soldier, after being challenged on the information, recognized that the
information was incorrect. The briefing has been updated and any reference
to American Family Association has been removed.
Soldiers who attended the briefing will be notified that the information
regarding AFA was incorrect.
I am unaware at this time about the intervention of an Army Chaplain.
We consider the matter closed.
Respectfully,
TROY A. ROLAN SR.
Army Spokesman
|
(from the AFA website)
So riddle me this Batman... What happens to the individual who made the unilateral decision to include the (mis)information from the SPLC?

Minor question. Is Troy Rolan SR. a civilian? Why would a civilian be speaking for the army?

When called on it by the Chaplain attending the class, he apologized and scrubbed the offending data from the presentation. The soldier has been counseled. ALL the soldiers will be contacted and told that the AFA is NOT a "hate" group. Apologies out to the AFA. Work is being done to ensure that this does NOT happen again.
Just goes to show you watch what you pull from the "interwebz".....

Here's my issue - what you can do today is against the rules tomorrow, and vice versa. He obviously thought that this was ok, that it was a good idea. Well, not today, but what are the rules going to say tomorrow? Gays couldn't serve, then came don't ask, don't tell, now they can openly serve and get married. That's just one example of a long list.
It really irritates me when a religion that openly advocates blowing up men, women, and children to achieve the goal of massacreing unbelievers is praised whereas Christianity is demonized. The moral compass of this nation is broken, and the moral standards are circling the drain.

Fort Hood soldiers say Army warned them off tea party, Christian groups
Fort Hood soldiers say Army warned them off tea party, Christian groups
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/...ty-christians/
"...Don’t donate to the tea party or to evangelical Christian groups — that was the message soldiers at a pre-deployment briefing at Fort Hood said they received from a counter-intelligence agent who headed up the meeting...."
at the end
"...Another soldier in attendance at the meeting confirmed the threat of punishment was made, Fox News reported. But the Army officials at Fort Hood said in a Breitbart.com report that the soldiers’ claims weren’t true....."
Somebody is not telling the truth.
