From the Comedy News Network ....

Quote:
Egypt's top military officer announces President Morsy no longer leader, outlines political road map for country.

Cairo (CNN) -- Egypt's military deposed the country's first democratically elected president Wednesday night, installing the head of the country's highest court as an interim leader, the country's top general announced.

Gen. Abdul Fattah Al-Sisi said the military was fulfilling its "historic responsibility" to protect the country by ousting Mohamed Morsy, the Western-educated Islamist leader elected a year ago. Morsy failed to meet demands to share power with opponents who thronged the streets of Cairo, and those crowds erupted as the announcement was made.

I've never seen a tank anywhere else. Planes, only when they're not flying.

My question in regards to the recent uprising in Egypt and subsequent removal of Morsi, is whether this turn of events is or was the intended outcome of the Arab Spring sponsors the Obama Adminstration, the US State Department, Movements.org and Project on Middle East Democracy.....or did it backfire on them?

The Irish Times (which I have no idea of their credibility) is reporting that
Quote:
Army concern about the way President Mohamed Morsi was governing Egypt reached tipping point when the head of state attended a rally packed with hardline fellow Islamists calling for holy war in Syria, military sources have said.

I guess the groups of young men and women in their 20s decided they did not want an Islamic government. I wonder if we will now back Mohammed ElBaradei since he is more secular.
