The question is not whether an entrepreneur may have benefited from publicly financed education or roads. The road was not built FOR them, but for the community, and as tax payers they contributed to its building as much if not more than others. The point is that while everyone may benefit from a road or a great teacher, not everyone then proceeds to go out and build a successful business which employees people or invents something that benefits all of us. It is absurd to suggest that the individual who did more with the materials provided to everyone, somehow owes the rest of us for their success.

All - this sign is in the window of a small computer repair shop in Lake Oswego. The shop is owned by Kevin Kerwin. He lost everything during Hurricane Katrina, and ended up in Oregon with a small amount of money in his pocket. I spoke with him today and he said all it took was Obama's most recent lie "If you own a small business, you didn't build it yourself". He knew he had to take a stand. He has had people come in and tell him the sign is offensive and others tell him he will lose business. The sign has been up for 3 days now and business is up, people are stopping by to shake his hand and he is encouraged that he is not alone. Kevin's shop is on a main road through Lake Oswego that has heavy traffic so there is no way you can miss the sign. He is concerned that someone will break his window or do other damage but he won't back down.

IMO. When you have a corrupt and complicit press/media on your side, you can pretty much say whatever you want. 20% of the country will only hear that story and believe it, another 50% will hear it and wonder about it, and (I hope a growing) remainder will access alternative media and hear both sides of the story and decide for themselves.
