Robin Sage:

The July 2012 Summer issue of "THE DROP" the quarterly magazine of The Special Forces Association give an excellent history of Robin Sage. A preview of the article states; Over the last 50 years, the Special Forces and Psychological Operations courses have held exercises to replicate an unconventional warfare guerilla situtation. Currently, the SFQC capstone exercise is called Robin Sage; however, over the years, it has gone through several iterations. What has evolved is a unique exercise that incorporates the particpation of local civillan volunteer role players in a complex unconventional warfare scenario unlike any in the Army. The story was written by 1st Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Airborne).
I went thru the field trainning exercise in Sept. Oct. & Nov.1963 it was conducted in Uhwarrie National Forest. The exercise ended at noon. 22 Nov. 1963.

Phase III (Error) and SF petigree

WCH is correct, it was CHEROKEE TRAIL in the late '60s. I should have should have used phase III to make it clear. Most QP online have been SF since '75 and could identify with ROBIN SAGE. Before ROBIN SAGE it was GOBBLER'S WOOD in the mid '70s and followed up with the current ROBIN SAGE.

For my Vietnam bona fides contact Steve Sherman.

One other item. I have a complete "Gung Ho" issue on SF with Bob Howard leading men and still winning the forced march and running. I wish I could scan it for all to see.
